Gothenburg Remand Prison is one of Sweden's five secure remand prisons located in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's facility in central Gothenburg. Gothenburg Remand Prison has space for about 400 clients. At Gothenburg Remand Prison, various professionals work, including correctional officers, psychologists, nurses, administrators, and intelligence operators. In total, we are about 300 employees who work daily with the important mission of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and breaking the vicious cycle.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a duty officer, you will, in consultation with the local management team, be responsible for security and operational management at the facility. The duty officer will operationally lead and distribute the daily work and is the highest local operational decision-maker outside office hours under the prison manager during standby. The duty officer represents the employer and ensures that the management line is maintained throughout all staff. The duty officer initially handles all incidents and is the one who makes decisions in acute situations. The work is varied and often fast-paced. As a duty officer at Gothenburg Remand Prison, you will anchor decisions made, communicate clearly and directly, and contribute to a safe and efficient work environment. The role also includes supporting and leading staff in a positive and developmental manner.

Some of the tasks included in the position are to follow up and participate in daily security work and take action as needed to maintain a high level of dynamic security work. Together with local managers and coordinated staffing, assess staffing needs and personnel and transport planning. Participate in admissions and discharges, court handling, and represent the remand prison in internal and external cooperation on operational matters.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

• Completed upper secondary education in the form of a diploma or upper secondary degree
• Approved correctional education
• Experience in a supervisory role
• Good administrative skills
• Understanding of the legal process and knowledge of handling judgments
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written

Desirable:

• Internal duty officer training from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Driver's license (B)
