The Coast Guard is a civil government preparedness authority responsible for maritime surveillance and rescue services at sea on behalf of the government and parliament. An important part of the maritime surveillance mission is to ensure safety in Sweden's maritime zones. This is done, among other things, through crime prevention, monitoring, and maintaining order. Description

The Coast Station Unit is looking for a 1st Engineer for the combination vessel KBV 001, stationed at the Coast Station in Gothenburg.

As a 1st Engineer, your main tasks will include:

  • Leading and planning maintenance work on both mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Sharing machine duty with the Ship Engineer outside regular working hours
  • Administering and documenting maintenance in the maintenance system AMOS
  • Participating as an inspector during shipyard inspections
  • Assisting in training new personnel
  • Serving as Technical Chief and Fire Chief substitute as needed
  • Serving as Ship Engineer as needed
  • Participating in exercises and deck work.

Qualifications

We see that you are responsible, independent, meticulous, and stress-resistant. You have good collaboration skills as well as good problem-solving abilities. You are proactive in technical matters and are happy to share your knowledge with others. You have the ability to lead employees, delegate tasks, and identify the need for various maintenance efforts. The position requires competence class ME, in accordance with the guidelines for KBV shipping regarding staffing, qualifications, and training for the safe operation of the Coast Guard's vessels (dnr 2018-3130), which corresponds to the Transport Agency's issued qualification of engineering officer class II according to Chapter 2, Section 16 of the regulations on qualifications for seafarers.

The position also requires that you, according to the aforementioned guidelines, have the following qualifications;
- an approved 2-year medical certificate according to the Transport Agency's regulations on medical certificates for seafarers (TSFS 2011:117) – 12.1
- approved training in basic safety – 12.2.1
- approved training in advanced firefighting – 12.5.1

Furthermore, the position requires that you, according to the previously mentioned guidelines, have or will obtain the following qualifications;
- training in oil and chemical cargo handling 12.7.2
- training in refrigerants 12.9
- Technical Chief
- training for electrical installation work on board 12.10
- leadership training 12.13
- occupational safety training 12.14
- training in damage control plan 12.15

The vessel series KBV 001-s has diesel-electric propulsion machinery (low voltage 690 v), machine and vessel monitoring system "Kongsberg K-chief" and a high degree of network-integrated IT systems. Professional experience in work, maintenance, and troubleshooting within one or more of the above technical areas is therefore meritorious. When hiring, we place great importance on personal suitability.

Conditions

The position is a permanent employment with a start date according to agreement. Swedish citizenship, a driver's license for passenger cars, a drug test, and a security clearance are required for employment.

The Coast Guard participates in foreign missions and international operations. Therefore, the position includes an obligation to serve abroad when required for the operation.

In the case of permanent employment, there is also an obligation to be placed in wartime.
