Are you ready for a bigger challenge?

The Swedish Police Authority is Sweden's largest authority with approximately 40,000 employees across the country. With us, you have the opportunity to contribute to the Police's mission – to increase safety and reduce crime in society.

The Serious Violent Crime Investigation Section is looking for a lead investigator who wants to be a central part of the police authority's work and development of investigative operations regarding serious and complex crime.

The Serious Violent Crime Investigation Section is organized under the regional investigation unit, which, together with police areas, is responsible for the region's investigative work. The investigation unit coordinates and drives operational development from a regional perspective in collaboration with the national operational department and other regions.

Alongside a comprehensive operational mission, the section has a regional coordination responsibility and should conduct method development to strengthen the region's investigative process and ability to investigate serious violent crimes as well as complex crimes in criminal environments against individuals that affect the regional problem picture. The section also plays a central role in the region's operations center and cyber sensor.

Currently, the section consists of seven groups distributed across different operational areas; lead investigators, investigators, operational analysis, and a cold case group.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of lead investigator in the section is broad and constantly evolving. The work includes everything from leading investigations in your own cases to leading large prosecutor-led investigations or leading in umbrella organizations that operate in several separate investigations with the problem in focus. You will supervise investigators in daily operations and ensure that preliminary investigations are conducted efficiently and with high quality. You are responsible for creating a favorable working climate in the investigation groups and driving investigations forward in close collaboration with the Prosecutor's Office. You evaluate evidence and prioritize investigative measures in complicated and larger investigations and are part of identifying and managing preliminary investigations prioritized based on the problem in focus and the current situation. You ensure that the work is conducted according to the Police Authority's intentions and instructions, in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations, and other rules.

Furthermore, you will work daily with collaboration both within the Police Authority and with external actors. The assignment also includes being proactive in the section's operational and methodological development tasks and supporting other investigative operations in Region West.

As a lead investigator in the section, you are also part of the region's Regional Operations Center (RDC). Our main task there is to enrich the operations center with qualified preliminary investigation knowledge in the uninterrupted reaction chain and to address the national and regional problem picture and support and direct operations in the region.

The work in the section is mainly conducted during daytime, but work in the evenings and weekends is included periodically when the operations require it. The section's lead investigators also have day and evening shifts scheduled at the RDC according to a 12-week schedule. Our section is responsible for the region's preparedness organization, and the role includes serving as a lead investigator on standby. The standby duty is currently scheduled together with the day and evening shifts at the RDC (12-week schedule).
