About the Workplace

The Fire Service in Ale and Kungälv municipalities is organized under the Bohus Fire Service Association, and our mission is to create safety and security for over 80,000 citizens.

Our task is to work for protection against accidents, and our work ranges from traditional firefighting to risk prevention and various safety-promoting initiatives. For this work, we have a range of different competencies that operate in several of the municipalities' activities as well as among citizens and private organizations.

We have about 150 employees distributed across four fire stations. Both full-time and part-time firefighters work in the organization.

Job Responsibilities

As a firefighter with us, you will work broadly within the entire association's mission.

You will work independently but also in a team with various tasks within the fire service's accident prevention and damage control work. It is a given that you want to contribute to creating a safe and secure environment for the residents of our municipalities.

You will, among other things, work with rescue operations in case of accidents, preventive and educational work, safety-promoting measures, participate in projects, and collaborate with other organizations and authorities to contribute to the development of the Bohus Fire Service Association.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has either completed at least two (2) semesters of the SMO training or has at least the MSB's basic training for emergency service personnel in readiness/rescue operations.

You should also have:

• Driver's license, class B
• Computer skills
• Approved smoke diver status according to current policy regarding physical basic requirements for employees in emergency service
• Certificate of passing the treadmill test for new employment (age-related 4.5–5.6 km/h at 8-degree incline), max 6 months old.
• Certificate of passing the Gold Buoy swimming test, max 1 year old

Valid certificates for the treadmill test and Gold Buoy swimming test must be attached to the application. Only complete applications will be considered.

Certificates of passing a medical examination according to AFS 2019:3 will be arranged by the Bohus Fire Service Association.

As a person, you are driven, self-sufficient, proactive, and have the ability to make decisions and be confident in them. You should have good collaboration skills and be skilled at structuring and planning your work. You see it as a given to provide a good reception and meet every individual both internally and externally in a responsive manner, as you will encounter people in various situations in your daily work.

You are also accustomed to expressing yourself well both verbally and in writing.

Desirable Qualifications

• Completion of 56 hours of smoke and chemical diving training according to AFS 2023:13, certificate to be attached to the application.
