JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a full-time firefighter in operational emergency service, you will have a varied and meaningful job where you contribute to safety and security in the community. Your main tasks include conducting rescue operations in the event of fires, traffic accidents, and other emergencies. To ensure that you can act professionally and effectively when alarms go off, you will regularly participate in training, exercises, and other skill development.

At AVRF, we prioritize our core operations, being ready when the unexpected happens. Therefore, our service organization is relatively small. Instead, you are expected as a firefighter to take responsibility for different areas and contribute to creating a functioning whole. This gives you great development opportunities and a varied everyday life that few other professions can offer.

Another important part of the job is preventive fire protection, where you, through information, education, and outreach activities, help citizens reduce the risk of accidents. This work takes place both preventively and in connection with an event that has already occurred.

The work is shift-based and requires you to be flexible, engaged, and prepared to handle both physical and mental challenges. You will become part of a close-knit team where collaboration and the willingness to develop are crucial for success in the role. As a firefighter in Alingsås, you will be an important part of the mission to work for a safe and secure society around the clock, year-round.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• Educational requirements:
• Completed education in accident prevention or equivalent previous training.
• Alternatively, Grib 2 or other previous training deemed equivalent by the employer, combined with several years of experience as a firefighter and additional merits (see below).
• C driver's license

• Meritorious:
• Experience that strengthens our ability to act independently during times of heightened preparedness or societal disturbances, e.g., medical knowledge, experience in safety work, technical education/interest, IT skills, experience as a vehicle mechanic.
• Experience that can contribute to strengthening our regular operations, e.g., MSB training or management courses, higher driving license categories, previous experience from the rescue service, pedagogical experience.

We are looking for someone with good collaboration skills, personal maturity, flexibility, and a strong problem-solving ability. These qualities are important to meet the varying challenges that the position entails. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

OTHER

If you proceed in the recruitment process, you will be invited to:

• Test day at Alingsås rescue station

Where you will complete a work-related course that tests your strength, endurance, and speed in realistic situations a firefighter may encounter. -Treadmill test -Height and claustrophobia test where we ensure that you do not have an abnormal fear of heights or tight spaces.

• Interview:

Here you will have the opportunity to tell us more about yourself, your motivation, and why you want to work with us. The interview will take place in a relaxed manner where we get to know you and discuss how you fit in as our future colleague. On the interview day, we would like you to bring an extract from the police criminal record, more information on the procedure when it becomes relevant.

• Medical examination:

If you proceed in the process, you will be called to our occupational health service for a medical examination. The doctor will issue a fitness certificate confirming that you are medically approved to perform smoke and chemical diving. An alcohol and drug test will also be conducted.
