I am a guy living in Olofström & I am a member of Blå Assistans because I want a self-chosen & self-managed assistance. Blå Assistans undertakes to be the employer for my assistants while I choose whom I want them to hire. I schedule my assistance & determine the content of the assistants' work. My organizer strives to ensure that both members, assistants & administrative staff have the competence required for their tasks.

Blå Assistans is a nationwide non-profit association that has been operating in cooperative form since 1994. The cooperative arranges personal assistance in accordance with the intentions of LSS, the law that gives people with disabilities the "right to live like others". A personal assistant is a service profession that supports a person with a disability to live the life he/she wants to live.

Your employment includes participating in training required by the employer.

Do you want to work with a 32-year-old guy with microcephaly and CP disability?

I want you to be self-sufficient, reliable, take initiative, be patient, and be a non-smoker.

With me, it is important to have a balance between taking it easy and doing activities; you need to tolerate chlorine as I swim once a week, and you also need to tolerate pets such as dogs and horses as I ride. It is a plus if you have experience with horses or are willing/easy to learn to be close to horses and everything related to them.

If you have experience with TAKK – Signs as Alternative and Complementary Communication, that is a plus. While TAKK is important, it is also important for me that you are attentive to my body language and learn to read me.

What can you expect to happen with me?

I walk but need support, and for longer distances or when I am tired, I use a wheelchair.

I am a guy who enjoys activities but also needs to take it easy; I need your help to ensure that I achieve that balance. Since I enjoy going on activities, it is important that you have a driver's license and access to a car so we can go on trips together.

With me, you need to have some knowledge of cooking, cleaning, and be able to assist me with showering and hygiene.

Since I work from 8:45 AM to 2:10 PM Monday to Friday, you will start working at 2:00 PM and receive me when I come home, then you will work from 2:10 PM to 8:45 AM with sleeping duty between 12:00 AM and 6:00 AM. The schedule will be divided among different assistants, so it is important to know how you can work.

At the beginning of 2026, there will be an opportunity to work more hours as someone on the schedule will need to be off.

With me, you only work every other weekend as I am at my parents' house every other weekend. I will also celebrate Christmas Eve, Easter Eve, and New Year's Eve with my parents, so schedule changes will occur if they fall on your schedule.
