Naval Warfare School's Training Unit

The Naval Warfare School's training unit conducts training for personnel to meet the needs of the naval combat units. The activities include basic seamanship training, officer training (officer program and specialist officer training), as well as vocational and position training for employed personnel.

The Nautical Department (NautA) trains sailors, conscripts, and officers in the field of navigation – from basic level up to university level. The training takes place both theoretically in classrooms and practically in simulators and with our boats.

Your workplace is located at the Naval Base in Karlskrona. You will be part of a team of about 12 people. The department has classrooms for theoretical navigation training, a navigation simulator, a GMDSS (radio) simulator, operational radio equipment with antenna arrangements, and small boats for practical navigation training. NautA is part of the vessel training unit along with, among others, the Ship Technical Department and the Maritime Safety Department.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan and ensure periodic maintenance and annual review of boats and other equipment
  • Contribute to corrective maintenance and be NautA's contact point with the Marine Base and Shipyard Resource in maintenance issues
  • Be responsible for lending and handing out boats to the boat chief from the Naval Warfare School (SSS) or other units
  • Ensure that boat instructions are updated and comply with SSS Unit Instructions
  • Manage the purchase of books and nautical charts
  • Material reporting and inventory of NautA's equipment in the PRIO and LIFT systems
  • Responsible for logistics and booking related to the implementation of FRB courses
  • Conduct type boat training on the department's boats

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Approved upper secondary education
  • B driver's license (manual)
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and general computer skills
  • You have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish

Meritorious

  • Nautical education
  • Machine training machine officer class VIII
  • BE driver's license
  • Experience in boat maintenance

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who is open, social, and has good collaboration skills. You are used to taking great personal responsibility, service-oriented, and like order and tidiness. If you are also practically inclined and enjoy both teamwork and independent work where a large part is devoted to taking care of boats and equipment in Trolle boat harbor, this could be a stimulating and developing job for you.

Employment form: The position is a civilian permanent employment with a 40-hour work week. The Swedish Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the authority.

The Naval Warfare School, SSS, trains officers, specialist officers, sailors, and soldiers at all levels. SSS also conducts studies, trials, and leadership training of ship crews as well as tactics and technology development in the maritime field. SSS also has a responsibility for diving and naval medicine in the Swedish Armed Forces. SSS is mainly based in Karlskrona in Blekinge but also has a unit in Berga outside Stockholm that specializes in amphibious warfare.
