Legal Advisor at the Legal Department

At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work with one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. We are around 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!

We are now looking for legal advisors for the Legal Department.

With us, you will work with qualified legal application and current societal issues influenced by what happens in our environment. Issues that concern and engage. We offer an exciting and developing job with a focus on maintaining a good working environment.

The Legal Department consists, in addition to the head of the legal office, of three units; the migration law units 1 and 2, and the legal unit. The legal unit is responsible for internal support and governance for the entire agency in general legal application issues.

What does a legal advisor do at the Legal Department?

At the legal unit, we primarily work with administrative law, contract law, confidentiality issues, reception law, procurement law, IT law, data protection issues, labor law, compensation issues, EU law, etc. We do this, among other things, by providing advice, writing legal investigations, drafting legal positions and handbook texts, responding to legislative inquiries, reviewing requests, commenting on and participating in government investigations regarding new legislation, litigating in court, and participating in the agency's development and digitalization work.

We also represent the Swedish Migration Agency externally in various working groups and provide legal support to the government office. As a legal advisor in the Legal Department, you will have the opportunity to participate in the development of our working methods. We strive to work cross-functionally within and outside the department.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with excellent collaboration skills who can relate to others in a responsive and smooth manner. You listen, communicate, and resolve any conflicts constructively. Furthermore, you have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages to the recipient.

You also have a good ability to adapt to changing circumstances and are interested in development issues. You can quickly change your perspective and approach, and you see opportunities in changes. You take responsibility for your tasks and have the ability to work systematically and drive your assignments towards set goals. In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on judgment and a high awareness of security and confidentiality.
