Unit Manager for the Legal Department at IVO
On December 1, a legal department was established at IVO – an important initiative where the department's two units will work together to strengthen and develop the authority's legal work. The legal department provides legal support in supervision and licensing processes and addresses cross-authority legal issues. We are now looking for an engaged and confident unit manager who wants to lead one of the legal units and be part of the exciting journey to build IVO's legal department. The position is based in Stockholm.
About the job
The position is located at one of the authority's two legal units, focusing on ensuring qualified legal support in supervision and licensing matters. As the head of the legal unit, you will lead both the daily operations and the long-term development of the unit. You will be responsible for personnel, operations, and budget, reporting directly to the department head and chief legal officer. You will be part of the management team of the legal department as well as the authority's management group, where you will work closely with employees to drive the authority's development and ensure a well-functioning everyday operation.
Your main responsibilities as a unit manager will include:
- leading and supporting employees to ensure they have the right conditions to perform their duties
- leading and coordinating the unit's operations
- taking joint overall responsibility for the authority's legal issues together with other employees in the legal department
- participating in the authority's change work with a particular focus on legal operations
The position is a permanent employment with a six-month probationary period, based in Stockholm. Travel may occur as part of the job.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- a law degree (jur. kand.)
- extensive and current experience of qualified legal work at a government authority, court, or the Government Offices
- experience in handling complex legal issues
- experience in developing legal work and leading teams towards common goals
- several years of managerial experience including personnel responsibility
- very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
To succeed in this role, you need to be a confident and communicative leader who creates participation and good conditions for your employees. You have a very good ability to prioritize and work in a structured manner, even when the pace is high and multiple issues need to be handled simultaneously. You are accessible to your employees and collaborate easily with others, building trust and creating sustainable relationships in your work.
In the recruitment process, we will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
We consider it an advantage if you also have:
- experience and good knowledge of the regulations relevant to IVO's mission
- experience working in a legal department at a government authority
