About the Position
We are looking for an engaged youth librarian responsible for programs.
The Youth Department at the City Library is a meeting place for the city's youth. In the afternoons and evenings, the rooms are filled with young people reading, playing games, doing homework, creating creatively, or just hanging out together. We are looking for a youth librarian who is engaged and structured and enjoys creating engagement both in the bookshelves and in the room.
The City Library is now seeking a driven and creative youth librarian who wants to help shape the future library experience for the age group 13–25 years.
Responsibilities
As a youth librarian with us, you will play a key role in:
- Being responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating programs, activities, and projects specifically aimed at young people, ranging from writing workshops and gaming nights to book clubs and makerspace activities.
- Continuing to develop collaboration between the teams in the building, Young Adults, and Children.
- Being visible and accessible in a way that builds trust and attracts new visitors to the library.
- Actively working with reading promotion initiatives.
- Collaborating with local actors to reach the target group.
- Participating in the daily library operations, which includes staffing the information desk in the evenings and on weekends.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- A university degree in library and information science.
- Experience working with the youth target group.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Experience in library work with the target group.
- Experience in planning and executing programs.
- Knowledge of young people's media worlds and good literary knowledge.
To thrive with us, you have a strong commitment to young people's right to information, culture, and their own means of expression. You have the ability to take initiative, be flexible, and drive projects from idea to reality. You remain calm even when the pace increases and find it easy to prioritize when many things are happening at once.
We Offer:
- A dynamic workplace with engaged colleagues.
- The opportunity to influence and shape an important part of the library's operations.
- Flexible working hours, professional development, and wellness benefits.
We look forward to your application!
