Borås is a cultural city in constant development. The Cultural Administration works with and is responsible for a large part of the cultural offerings. Our offerings include the Libraries in Borås, Borås Art Museum, the Culture School, the Textile Museum, and Borås Museum, Borås City Theatre, and Public Meetings with Bio Röda Kvarn. The Cultural Administration is also responsible for program activities for adults, youth, and children, distributes grants to cultural associations and events, awards cultural scholarships, and manages issues related to artistic decoration and cultural heritage. Here, over 230 people work to enrich the lives of the people of Borås.

The museum owns and manages an art collection of over 5000 works, primarily from Swedish but also international artists. Among the artworks, there is a wide range of techniques and materials, including painting, sculpture, drawing, graphics, photography, video art/moving image, and installations. A selection from the collection is always represented in an exhibition at the museum. The museum also houses the Lars Tunbjörk Center for Photography, and activities such as tours, discussions, film screenings, and workshops are offered for all ages.

The art museum is looking for an engaged, versatile, and solution-oriented museum technician with a passionate interest in contemporary art! Together with the exhibition team at the art museum, curators, and artists, you will help create the conditions for and shape new exciting exhibitions - such as the Borås Art Biennial 2026!

You will work independently and in a team to plan and drive exhibition technical work in connection with the museum's productions. The work is project-based and requires you to be attentive, flexible, and collaborative. The work includes museum technical tasks such as construction, building, and manufacturing exhibition elements, work related to image, sound, and lighting technology, handling/hanging/mounting of art, and packing exhibitions. You will also work with safety issues and be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the museum's premises. Heavy lifting is involved.

The position includes work some evenings and weekends, for example during installation periods, openings, or other program activities.

We are looking for a person who has a suitable post-secondary/higher education/university degree, as well as extensive documented experience working with artistic processes. You have relevant knowledge of the breadth of materials, techniques, and installation solutions in contemporary art and have experience in meeting the various needs of contemporary art. You can work both independently and in collaboration with others within and outside the art museum. You are structured and handle situations under stress well.

Knowledge of light, moving images, and scenographic properties is advantageous. If you can create scale models of exhibitions and read architectural drawings and instructions, that is also a plus.

You need to be able to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

A driver's license is required.
