Job Responsibilities

The vision teacher is part of the Syncentralen's interdisciplinary team and aims to provide patients with the best possible conditions for an independent life through quality-assured vision rehabilitation.

The vision teacher plays an active role in the Syncentralen's assistive technology operations and development work related to the organization's goals, as well as the specific tasks of the vision teacher.

The work includes mapping, vision assessment, training in compensatory techniques, as well as testing, training, and prescribing assistive devices. If necessary, we also collaborate with other organizations, municipalities, and authorities.

About the Workplace

The Syncentralen is a regional operation based in Halmstad and Kungsbacka. Our target group is individuals with visual impairments, meaning those who have difficulty reading regular text or orienting themselves with the help of vision – or have similar difficulties in daily living. We work in teams consisting of vision teachers, optometrists, social workers, secretaries, ophthalmologists, and technicians.

The Syncentralen is part of the Communication operation, which also includes Hearing Care, Resource Center for Communication; Dako, and Interpreting Services.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained occupational therapist, physiotherapist, nurse, or has another higher education that the employer finds suitable. Experience in healthcare is required. Experience in vision rehabilitation is an advantage.

We seek someone who has the ability to meet the person behind the disability. You are a person with commitment, drive, and the ability to collaborate. You have a pedagogical approach and enjoy working in a team in close cooperation with your colleagues as well as with other external parties around the patient. You have good computer skills and can independently plan and carry out your work towards the goals we have set together for the organization.

To ensure good and safe communication with colleagues, patients/customers, and other contacts, we require good knowledge of the Swedish language both spoken and written. Other language skills are considered an advantage.

Since part of the work takes place in the user's immediate environment, a B driver's license is required.
