Economist at Lund University

Job Responsibilities

The main responsibilities are to provide qualified economic services to our research departments, undergraduate education, and support activities.

As an economist, you will work together with your economic colleagues, management, department heads, and individual researchers and teachers.

The job responsibilities include:

  • Budgeting, forecasting, and year-end closing work
  • Project reporting (including budget, ongoing follow-up, and contract terms)
  • Economic support to our staff
  • Ongoing accounting (supplier invoices, asset accounting, etc.)
  • Participating in the development of routines, templates, and processes

The job responsibilities may change over time.

Qualifications

We are looking for an economist who has a flexible working style and who wants to develop with us. It is important that you enjoy working with the entire range from budgeting and interpretation of contract terms to ongoing accounting.

Requirements

You have:

  • Relevant higher education degree in economics.
  • Experience in accounting and ongoing economic work in a larger organization.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and follow-up work.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written forms.
  • Experience and interest in working with digital administrative systems and good knowledge of Excel.

It may also be advantageous if you have:

  • Experience in accounting for larger research projects, such as EU projects
  • Experience in purchasing and procurement.
  • Experience in economic work within the public sector.

Consideration will also be given to how the applicant's experience and competence are assessed to complement and strengthen the economic work within the group and the institution.

Conditions

Permanent employment, 100%, starting as soon as possible. A probationary period may apply.

At the Faculty of Science, research and education are conducted in biology, astronomy, physics, geoscience, chemistry, mathematics, and environmental science. The activities are conducted at eight departments located within the northern university area. The faculty has about 1,500 students, 360 doctoral students, and 700 employees.

The Department of Physics is one of Lund University's largest departments with approximately 400 employees. The department is shared by the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering (LTH). The department has seven research divisions and several larger research centers. The research at the department covers a wide spectrum of modern physics.
