The Department of Pharmacy at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) consists of three hospital pharmacy units that support departments and clinics with pharmaceutical expertise. Approximately 100 employees work in the Department of Pharmacy, including ward pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, administrators, and chief pharmacists. The majority are based at Sus in Lund and Malmö, but several colleagues are also present at the hospitals in Ystad, Trelleborg, and Landskrona.

Ystad Hospital is a medium-sized hospital located in southeastern Skåne, with easy commuting to both Malmö and Österlen. About 1000 people work here, and the hospital provides both emergency and planned healthcare. It includes, among other things, a 24-hour emergency service, maternity/birthing services, and intensive care. The hospital operates with short decision-making paths and close collaboration. The Department of Pharmacy is seeking a ward pharmacist to be placed at Ystad Hospital. The hospital has had ward pharmacists, medication assistants, and clinical pharmacists in its operations for many years.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your tasks are varied and include ordering and unpacking medications, inventory management, maintenance of medication storage, preparing medications for patients, and promoting good medication economics. In the role of ward pharmacist, you will work with the supply, handling, and use of medications in the ward and the hospital. You will be an important member of the team consisting of both ward pharmacists and medication assistants who will work together to ensure quality and safety in medication management.

Furthermore, you will work with medication safety issues through, for example, training healthcare staff and developing routines and instructions. The hospital has medication dispensers, and you will assist in maintaining these.

The hospital pharmacy units in the Department of Pharmacy are in a dynamic and developing period, where you as a pharmacist have a good opportunity to influence work methods, participate in projects, and take on additional assignments. We also offer good opportunities for professional development within hospital pharmacy and the role of ward pharmacist.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a licensed pharmacy technician or a licensed pharmacist or have at least equivalent pharmaceutical education and authorization to work within Swedish healthcare. For the position, proficiency in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale is required. It is advantageous if you have good knowledge of English and work experience from pharmacy operations in Sweden. A completed course in extemporaneous preparation and/or clinical pharmacy is also advantageous.

As a person, you value and promote good collaboration between all professional groups and have experience working independently and taking initiative. You have the ability to see how workflows should be organized to achieve good results. It is important that you are flexible and can reprioritize when necessary. Furthermore, you see improvement opportunities in your daily work and have a genuine interest in development work and quality issues. You also have experience and familiarity in communicating with various representatives of the healthcare sector.
