Nursing Assistant in Adult Psychiatry
REGION SKÅNE 23 days left
to apply for the job
Make a Difference. Every Day.
We are transitioning to the title of nursing assistant and will gradually phase out the title of caregiver across all our psychiatric services. This process started on November 1, 2023. The change in title will not alter the need for specialist competence in psychiatry. Specialist competence remains very important and will continue to be developed. Within the administration, work has begun to review what is needed for continued professional development, increased professional knowledge, and development opportunities related to patient work.
The Adult Psychiatry Department 6 is located in the Psychiatry House on Baravägen, where the entire care chain is gathered. The department is a general psychiatric ward with an open door and 16 care places. Patients who are to be treated here must therefore be cared for according to the Health and Medical Care Act (HSL), be able to relate to the open door, and not require increased supervision. We collaborate with other units in the building, especially with the newly established unit for advanced psychiatry at home (APIH). The department employs a chief physician, a social worker, a peer support worker, nursing assistants, nurses, and secretaries.
We care about our patients and believe that their influence is an important part of our work. Therefore, we have a full-time peer support worker as an essential part of the team. The department continuously develops its operations together with user organizations, which has been a significant success factor. We value a good work environment where collaboration, strong team spirit, and a positive approach are self-evident and something we actively work to preserve.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We welcome a nursing assistant who wants to broaden their experiences within adult psychiatry and help our patients with mental health issues.
As a nursing assistant, you will work with a variety of tasks, making each day unique. You will be part of a wonderful team that works closely with patients alongside doctors, nurses, social workers, and peer support workers. Your duties will include participating in the assessment, planning, and treatment of patients. Additionally, other tasks will be assigned based on the needs of the operation, with a focus on psychiatric nursing care and support conversations.
We offer you, as a new colleague, an introduction tailored to your skills and experience to help you transition into the role as smoothly as possible. We value professional development and therefore offer continuous training, both internally and externally.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant or a specialist nursing assistant in psychiatry. This means you have a recognized upper secondary education in health and social care (2500 points), approved health and social care education via adult education (minimum 1350 points), or another equivalent nursing assistant education. Since the work largely involves communication and documentation, good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are a requirement. You also need to master basic medical technical skills at the nursing assistant level.
Applicants who currently hold permanent employment with the job title caregiver can apply and, if hired, retain the job title (but only until 2033 when the title caregiver will cease to exist within our operations).
Experience working as a nursing assistant in specialist psychiatry is a requirement for the position. Good computer skills and basic knowledge of our journal system Melior are advantageous. Experience from somatics is viewed positively.
We are looking for someone who is confident in their professional role and can remain calm and act professionally, even in stressful situations. You should easily adapt to changing circumstances and have the ability to collaborate with other professionals. Additionally, we value that you, just like us, see ethics and the inherent worth of all individuals as important cornerstones in your work. Personal suitability is of great importance.
Please attach your nursing assistant certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare if you have received it or your diploma to your application. If you have not yet received the certificate, you will be given the title of care assistant in the meantime. If you were permanently employed as a nursing assistant on July 1, 2023, or if you wish to retain the job title caregiver and were employed as such before November 1, 2023, please provide documentation to support this.
A background check will be conducted before any potential employment.
OTHER
As of July 1, 2023, the title of nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant in health and social care. If you currently have a permanent position as a nursing assistant and are offered a new position, you can retain your title of nursing assistant until June 30, 2033. At any interview/employment, you will need to present proof of the protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate indicating that you were permanently employed on July 1, 2023. If you do not currently have a professional certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare or fall under the transitional provisions, this means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant and not nursing assistant.
