Department of Clinical Sciences
We are now looking for someone within the field of ruminant medicine who wants to deepen their clinical experience through an internship.
About the job
An internship is a clinical training program that serves as a foundation for potential further registration in a specialist program in Ruminant Medicine (residency). The tasks include participation in clinical work, teaching, and clinical research. The goal of the program is for you to gain in-depth clinical experience as well as experience in supervision. Through self-study and presentations during rounds, you will receive support to synthesize knowledge. As a training veterinarian, you will participate in the daily work at the clinic, such as diagnostics, treatment, necropsies, herd investigations, and rounds. The clinical activities take place both at SLU Ruminant Clinic, with teaching animals and referred cases, and in the cattle herds at Lövsta Research Center and other herds. The tasks include both simple and more qualified veterinary tasks, participation in teaching, and supervision of veterinary students. Evening and weekend work may occur.
Your background
You who are applying should have a veterinary degree and Swedish veterinary license, as well as good theoretical competence in ruminant medicine at both individual and herd levels. Your goal is to become a Swedish or European specialist in ruminant medicine for an academic career that includes research. You express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. It is advantageous to have good pedagogical skills and experience in practical clinical teaching. A driving license (B) is required. We will also place great emphasis on personal suitability, motivation for professional development, and abilities such as teamwork, independence, as well as initiative and organizational skills.
