Are you interested in technology and enjoy working practically with testing? Then the role of Break-in Testing Technician with us might be something for you. We are currently looking for a key person who enjoys working with equipment, test preparations, maintenance, and analysis.

About us RISE operates at the interface between testing and research, where we provide our expertise. We participate in standardization work and conduct manufacturing controls both nationally and internationally. At RISE, you will work in a very stimulating environment with competent and friendly colleagues who are passionate about making a difference.

As a research institute, RISE has an enormous breadth and there are no shortage of exciting societal challenges. This provides development opportunities both professionally and personally. Our operations in Borås serve as a hub for mechanical issues within RISE, and we believe that you have the flexibility, curiosity, and openness required to help develop new knowledge and skills together with both industry partners and colleagues within RISE.

The Department of Chemistry and Applied Mechanics belongs to the division of Materials and Production and currently has around 100 employees. The mechanics team, about 70 people, primarily works with strength, functionality, and lifespan issues in materials, constructions, and products of various kinds. We carry out assignments and collaborate with industry, authorities, and academia in a large number of sectors to solve problems of varying sizes and complexities.

We are now looking for a technician with ambition and potential who wants to become part of our strong team of experts, researchers, engineers, and technicians.

About the role The unit Transport and Product Safety works with safety within the transport and product segments and is divided into different technical areas: break-in, vehicle components, packaging for hazardous goods, and personal protective equipment.

We are looking for a driven technician who will primarily work within the technical area of Break-in. You will prepare for testing, participate in testing, and be responsible for preventive maintenance. Today, we test doors, windows, gates, grilles, safes, gun cabinets, as well as locks and fittings – both accredited and non-accredited testing. In 2026, we plan to expand the area with ballistic testing and explosion testing.

We are looking for someone who wants to grow through learning-by-doing and gradually broaden their knowledge. You will work closely with an experienced testing engineer and learn to practically apply the standards that govern the area. Ultimately, the goal is for you to take over simpler projects and develop towards an engineering role with business responsibility.

All roles within the area are security classified and the location for the position is Borås.

Who are you? You likely have a technical education background and a strong interest in mechanics and strength. You are practically oriented, solution-focused, and unafraid of new challenges.

The work is physically challenging with dynamic elements that require strength, endurance, and technique. Since customers are often present during testing, you need to be stress-resistant and have good communication skills to ensure that testing is carried out as planned.

In the role, you need to be able to handle hot work, forklifts, and overhead cranes. Computer skills are important as you will be making bookings, orders, and receiving goods. It is an advantage if you have experience in adapting and manufacturing simpler mechanical parts in a workshop using lathes, milling machines, drills, and welding.

As a person, you are driven, persistent, meticulous, and structured. You easily understand instructions, are curious and helpful, and take the initiative to solve practical problems. You need to be able to switch between different types of assignments and pace, and handle stress well.

We place great importance on your personality. You will have the opportunity to learn a lot through internal training and support from experienced colleagues. Since our customers are international, you need to be able to communicate in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Welcome with your application! If this sounds exciting and you want to know more, please contact Anna Ehn, Unit Manager, 010–516 59 45. The deadline for applications is January 11, 2026, and interviews will be conducted after the application period.

Our union representatives are Ingemar Petermann, SACO, 010-2284122 and Linda Ikatti, Unionen, +46 10 516 51 61.

We kindly ask for no contact from sellers of job advertisements or offers of recruitment support.
