The city of Mölndal is one of Sweden's most expansive municipalities, and we are currently involved in several major urban planning projects such as the railway between Gothenburg and Borås, Forsåker, GoCo Health Innovation City, the Pedagogen Park district, and Mölndal's city center. Together, the goal is to create a sustainable and vibrant city for its residents. We are now looking for two Urban Planners, would you like to join us?

About the position
We are looking for someone with broad experience and a strong interest in various stages of physical planning, from densification projects, diverse urban development projects, infrastructure projects, early-stage analysis work to cross-departmental development work. The breadth of projects and development in Mölndal makes the work as an urban planner with us both varied and challenging. It is therefore advantageous if you have special interests that can complement the department's collective competence and ambition to plan for a well-designed living environment in Mölndal.

As an urban planner, you will work concurrently on several different types of assignments; as responsible for your own detailed plans, as an assistant in others' projects, but also have the opportunity to lead various types of development projects. We always work in project form for our detailed plans, where each plan is handled by working groups that gather the competence required to ensure quality at every step.

The role of an urban planner requires good communication and coordination both internally within the municipality and externally with consultants, authorities, and partners. You are responsible for the timeline, setup, coordination of consultants, preparation of planning documents, and materials for political decisions. Additionally, you have a central role in balancing different interests and providing well-founded recommendations to decision-makers. There is strong political engagement around our detailed plans, and the most important projects have been clearly prioritized. Here, conscious choices are made, allowing us to focus on what is most important for the municipality.

Your profile
You are educated in Urban Planning such as a planning architect, architect, landscape architect, or other education that we assess as equivalent. You have at least 5 years of experience as an urban planner with administrative responsibility. To succeed in the role, we see that you have experience in driving and managing your own complex projects as well as experience from working within the municipal sector. Knowledge of current planning and building legislation such as the Planning and Building Act and the Environmental Code is important, as well as a personal interest in current societal issues related to the assignment. We are looking for someone who is communicative, creative, analytical, and attentive. Someone who has a good ability to keep things together, plan, and drive a work process and work group forward. It is important that you want to share your knowledge and have a pedagogical ability to convey it to both colleagues, the public, and politicians in speech and writing.

About the Urban Planning Department
The Urban Planning Department works comprehensively for sustainable development of the city of Mölndal, urban areas, and rural areas. The department works purposefully to make Mölndal an attractive, sustainable, and successful city in the region. The Urban Planning Department is responsible for the long-term physical planning of the city and builds the sustainable city based on a holistic view of urban development. The assignment includes strategic urban planning, comprehensive and detailed planning, plan implementation, as well as management and development of Mölndal's own property portfolio, investment projects, land and exploitation, traffic development, and long-term planning of land and water use. The work takes place in a dynamic and development-oriented environment, where we together create the best conditions for the city's residents and businesses.
