The Economic Office belongs to the municipal executive administration and is the municipality's central economic function. We are responsible for processes within planning and follow-up, purchasing, financing, and accounting, and we work closely with the municipality's operations to support daily work and develop cross-municipal working methods in these areas.

The Economic Office consists of two departments and a staff of just over 30 employees. You will belong to the department for economic and operational management. Together, we form a competent and engaged team that works in a positive and pleasant work environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an economist, you will spend most of your time supporting the municipal executive administration and providing qualified support to managers in economic and operational planning as well as follow-up. The remaining part of your time will be spent providing similar support to the environmental and health protection administration, guardianship administration, municipal council, election committee, and municipal audit.

Your role includes, among other things:

• Support in budget and forecasting work
• Support in follow-ups and year-end accounting
• Support in accounting issues
• Support in the development of fees and charges
• Participate in various development and change projects
• Presentation of financial materials to managers and political decision-makers

You actively work to increase understanding of economic issues among the administrations and contribute with analysis and materials that support the operations' decision-making and development.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a degree in economics from a university or college and preferably a few years of relevant work experience in budget and follow-up work. Experience from the public sector is a plus but not a requirement; the most important thing is that you are curious, engaged, and want to contribute to our development.

You are accustomed to working in a Windows environment, where the Office suite is a natural working tool for you, especially Excel, which you master well. If you have experience with the systems Visma RoR and Hypergene, it is considered an advantage.

The work requires a consultative approach and the ability to see the whole in the different operations. It is important that you are confident in providing support and guidance on economic issues and can express yourself well in both speech and writing.

As a person, you are engaged and enjoy building relationships and working closely with various operations. You are responsive and flexible in collaboration with others, and you contribute to a good work climate by valuing cooperation and community. You find it easy to create structure even in a busy and sometimes changing environment. Accuracy, accountability, and a good ability to plan, organize, and prioritize your work are qualities we highly value. A good analytical ability, where you can see the connections between economy and operations, is a prerequisite for success in the role.
