The Orthopedic Unit (VO) at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) provides acute and elective orthopedic care, responsible for both the residents of Region Skåne and the Southern Healthcare Region. The overarching goal of the unit is to deliver orthopedic care of the highest international standard through clinical work, research, development, and teaching at an international level, as well as through internal quality and patient safety work and participation in national registers. The unit covers the Southern Healthcare Region and operates in Malmö, Lund, and Trelleborg.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are now welcoming another assistant chief physician to the spine section within the VO orthopedics.

As an assistant chief physician with us, you will work clinically and also contribute to clinical research and the development work of the section. The role also includes additional responsibilities, which may change over time and currently involves being the unit responsible physician (EAL) for department 51. On-call duties are also included in the role.

The VO orthopedics operates at several locations, such as Lund and Trelleborg. Therefore, travel may be required in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who are applying are a licensed physician authorized to practice within Swedish healthcare.

You possess:

• specialist competence in orthopedics with several years of work experience from a unit within orthopedics where you have focused on degenerative spinal diagnoses across the entire spine, including deformity surgery
• clinical skill and independence in orthopedics with extensive experience in degenerative spinal diagnoses and deformity surgery
• completed or planned clinical supervisor training
• documented teaching and supervising merits
• full-time service of at least three years (documented effective time)
• language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale

Disputation and/or specialist examination can be credited for a total of six months of clinical service.

At a university hospital unit, it is required that physicians have pedagogical experience and education. This can be acquired through supervision of, for example, nursing and/or medical students as well as physicians in training. You may also have been a co- or main supervisor of doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application any completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience in supervision, and teaching at various levels.

You have a very good ability to collaborate with both colleagues and other staff categories, as well as a good approach in contact with patients and relatives. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
