Ålsta Folk High School consists of two units, an internat folk high school located in Fränsta and a day folk high school in central Sundsvall. The school is religiously and politically independent.

The folk high school is a unique form of education that plays an important role in Swedish society. The pedagogy emphasizes active participation, conversation, and collaborative learning in groups. Within the folk high school, we believe that knowledge and education have intrinsic value and that learning can be a goal in itself. In our general course in Sundsvall, you will meet about 80 participants studying at basic and upper secondary level.

We are now looking for a participant assistant for Ålsta Sundsvall and our general course, focusing on basic education (equivalent to grades 7-9). The position is a full-time temporary contract from February 2026 to December 2026.

As a participant assistant, you will work closely with the responsible educator and support the participants both in and outside the classroom. You will help create structure in their studies, provide pedagogical support in various school subjects, and work socially pedagogically by being a safe and present support person in the school environment.

Furthermore, we see that you have a good understanding of how participants absorb knowledge and everyone's different conditions. You have the ability to convey knowledge in a clear and understandable way, and you do not hesitate to use creativity and tools to facilitate and meet the needs of our participants.

The role also includes responsibility for common areas, such as lounges, participant kitchens, and libraries. You are an important part of the school's entirety and work both independently and in teams.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Participant Assistant at Ålsta Folk High School, Sundsvall Job Responsibilities

• Support participants in their studies in various school subjects.
• Help participants plan and structure their studies.
• The work also includes being involved in the planning and implementation of course and school-wide activities.
• Responsibility for order and comfort in common areas.

We are looking for someone who

• Has good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form
• Has good computer skills
• Has several years of professional experience and familiarity with working with people with NPF

It is an advantage if you

• Have a pedagogical education and/or experience in teaching situations, preferably within NPF
• Have experience working with support structures and various pedagogical tools
• Have experience working at a folk high school
• Have a B driver's license
