The Family Law Unit is part of the Sector for Children and Adults at the Social and Labor Market Administration, Östersund Municipality. Within the unit, five social workers are responsible for all family law work, and there is a unit manager with extensive knowledge of family law close to the working group.

Your new job

As a social worker in the Family Law Unit, we work based on the child's needs to support children and parents in family law matters. We work, among other things, with investigating issues regarding custody, residence, and visitation on behalf of the district court, handling cases of parenthood, international and national adoption, holding informational conversations, and executing visitations following court decisions. The unit also conducts collaborative conversations upon application or court decision. With us, you will have a workday that involves variation, both in assignments and in the people you meet.

The tasks are largely investigative in nature

Documentation and communication are central parts of the work. Therefore, you who are applying find investigative work interesting and stimulating and have a good ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish.

Common tasks

  • Investigate, assess, and make decisions in cases.
  • Documentation of cases.
  • Meetings with people in crisis and conflict.
  • Advisory conversations.
  • Meetings and conversations with both adults and children.

Your competence

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work. Experience in family law work or investigations concerning children/youth within social services, as well as relevant further education in the profession, is advantageous.

We value experience and knowledge from other social work, investigative work, and meeting people in crisis and conflict. We see that you have good collaboration skills and can contribute positively to the group's work environment.

You work both independently and in a structured manner by planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work well. Since the work often involves meeting people in complex life situations, it is important that you can meet people in a respectful manner.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Requirements

  • You have a degree in social work.
  • You have good computer skills.
  • You have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • Driving license B.

Meritorious

  • You have knowledge of current legislation.
  • You have experience of public authority exercise.
  • You have knowledge of people in crisis and conflict.
  • You have worked with and educated yourself in the area of collaborative conversations.

The Family Law Unit is a relatively small unit with five employees and a unit manager; after the turn of the year, we will have an opening for a position. We are looking for someone who wants to work with family law issues together with colleagues who have extensive experience in social work in general and family law work in particular.
