A Job with Room for Engagement!

Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people? Then apply for the position of family therapist with us at the open care unit, Krokom Municipality!

Welcome to Us!

At the open care unit, ten family therapists/counselors, a school social worker who is part of a school social team, and a unit manager work together. We operate on behalf of social workers but also provide advisory and motivational conversations without a support decision.

We are currently on a development journey focused on improving our services to align with the new social services act.

The social administration consists of 600 employees with a wide range of tasks. The administration is divided into five operational areas and is present throughout the municipality. Individual and family care is one of these operational areas and consists of four units: Open Care Unit, Work/Integration, Children and Family, and Adult Unit.

A Day as a Family Therapist at the Open Care Unit

As a family therapist, we work family-oriented and from a systemic theoretical holistic perspective. We carry out change and treatment work with children, adolescents, and their families based on self-referrals as well as on assignments from investigating social workers.

The work is based on evidence-based methods and proven experiences. The content of the treatment work is individually tailored to the child's/adolescent's needs and is shaped together with the children, adolescents, and their parents based on the assignment. We work both in teams and individually. The work takes place in the families' homes, in our facilities, or at other suitable locations.

As a family therapist, you will vary your methods from pure conversational methodology to more practical and concrete work where there is a need for family treatment with a more pedagogical focus. The goal is to increase protective factors, reduce risk factors, and to provide families with support and help in their home environment as much as possible. An important part of this is to involve the network.

You will have close collaboration with the decision-making manager, social workers, other colleagues in the unit, and other internal or external actors.

The position is primarily daytime, but since families' needs and the nature of assignments vary, some flexibility is required, with work in the evenings and early mornings occurring.

You document your work in our documentation system Viva and create and work according to implementation plans and follow up on these.

Your Competence

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or other higher education that the employer deems equivalent.

As a person, you are flexible with good collaboration skills and work in a structured and independent manner. You are driven, identify areas for development, and take the initiative for improvements based on emerging needs and demands. You can navigate the social systems, the various principal's assignments, and understand how preventive social work can complement existing resources. You are responsible and have reached a personal maturity that makes you secure in yourself.

A driver's license (B) is a requirement.

Experience in psychosocial change and treatment work within the area of children and families is an advantage.

Personal suitability is crucial for the assignment.

To be considered for employment, a criminal record extract for work in HVB homes must be presented and assessed by the employer.

Other Information

Permanent employment at 100%, start date by agreement.

You will receive regular external supervision. Benefits portal and wellness allowance or wellness hour, as well as the possibility of vacation exchange.

Application deadline: January 18, 2026

Interviews are planned for February.

In preparation for the recruitment process, we have decided on recruitment channels and marketing. Therefore, we kindly ask for no contact from salespeople.

Message from Your Future Manager

Krokom, the municipality in the heart of Jämtland

The borders of Krokom Municipality stretch from the shores of Storsjö in the south to the vast and wild mountains in the north, and in the east, the great forests of the northern inland take over. Here live just over 15,700 residents, in the heart of Jämtland County, with good communication links to the rest of Sweden. There are fantastic opportunities for a rich cultural and outdoor life. People move here and want to stay, as life itself can take place here.

The municipality is part of a Sami administrative area, which means that we work to strengthen the Sami language, make the culture visible, and give the Sami influence.
