We are looking for an engaged and skilled special teacher for a developing and significant position.
Job Responsibilities
As a special teacher in our special education group, you will work in a small student group where you, together with your team, create a safe, structured, and adapted learning environment. You will take clear responsibility for planning, implementing, and following up on teaching based on each student's individual needs, while closely collaborating with colleagues regarding the students' entire school situation.
Your responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessments and analyses of students' knowledge development and needs.
- Designing, following up, and adapting individual development plans and action programs.
- Leading instruction in a small group or one-on-one, focusing on strengthening students' knowledge, motivation, and self-esteem.
- Working with clear pedagogical methods, special educational techniques, and alternative tools.
- Professionally managing challenging and sometimes outwardly aggressive behaviors in a low-arousal manner.
- Promoting a good and safe school environment where students have the conditions for a positive and meaningful school day.
- Contributing to the development of common working methods and routines within the team and providing special educational support to colleagues.
- Collaborating with guardians and student health services to create a holistic view of the student's development.
You play a central role in meeting each student with warmth, clarity, and stability, and in creating the best possible conditions for learning and well-being together with your team.
About the School
Fjällboskolan is located in a quiet and idyllic residential area near nature by the Fjällbobergen in Utby. Here you have all the opportunities to plan for outdoor teaching, and you can also take a pleasant walk in nature during your break. At Fjällboskolan, approximately 400 students are enrolled in grades F-5, and about 50 staff members work at the school. We have an open climate at the school, and together with our ambitious students and engaged parents, we collaborate with a clear goal-oriented approach to create safety and well-being for the students.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a qualified special teacher. It is an advantage if you have:
- Experience teaching in a special education group
- Experience teaching students with NPF
- Experience with outwardly aggressive students
As a person, you have a good ability to collaborate and contribute to driving the operations forward, while also being able to take responsibility and find solutions in both planned and unexpected situations.
You need to have experience working with students with varying needs and be able to meet outwardly aggressive behaviors in a professional and safe manner. You are resilient, patient, and have an easy time building trusting relationships. Your calmness, structure, and ability to see each student's potential are central to the role.
