At the Academy of Textiles, Technology and Business, research and education are conducted in business administration, industrial economics, resource recovery, civil engineering, and in the textile field: design, management, and technology.

Within the academy, there are five departments: the Department of Business Administration and Textile Management, the Department of Engineering Science, the Department of Resource Recovery and Civil Engineering, the Department of Textile Technology, and the Department of Design, as well as a division for Textile Labs. The Textile University, along with the center formation, the Center for Sustainable Community Building, are other important activities within the academy. The academy also has two graduate schools, in Resource Recovery and in Textiles and Fashion. We are now announcing a PhD position (Licentiate degree) in resource recovery with a focus on sustainable energy and thermal processes.

About the research project
The doctoral student will be part of the research group for sustainable energy and thermal processes, and the employment includes studies within a research project that deals with biochar from waste as a potential carbon source for batteries. The aim is to find new applications and to increase the value of biochar from various waste streams through upgrading. The project is carried out in collaboration with other research groups in resource recovery.

Your tasks
Independent doctoral education within the aforementioned research project. In addition to doctoral studies, teaching in the relevant area or other institutional duties may be carried out up to 20% of full-time. The total time for doctoral studies will then be extended correspondingly.

Your qualifications
Employment is conditional upon the applicant meeting the requirements and being admitted as a doctoral student. Admission is made by the doctoral education committee for resource recovery.

To be admitted to the doctoral program in resource recovery, you need to have a master's degree with sufficient relevance to the doctoral subject of resource recovery and a bachelor's degree in energy technology, chemical engineering, or equivalent. You should have documented knowledge in thermodynamics, organic and inorganic chemistry, as well as thermal processes, and you should be able to communicate fluently in writing and orally in English.

Meritorious:

  • Experience in laboratory work and knowledge in the battery field and electrochemistry, as well as knowledge in analysis and instruments such as MP-AES and CHNS.
  • Fluent communication in writing and orally in Swedish.

Your employment
Fixed-term employment as a doctoral student until a licentiate degree (max 2 years) according to HF chapter 5. The first employment period covers one year and is normally renewed for another year.
