Job Responsibilities

As a business developer, you will work to strengthen and develop the business community in Malmö. Your role includes capturing and driving the development potential in the city and region by initiating, leading, and stimulating various initiatives that enhance the position of the business sector and Malmö's attractiveness. The work is primarily conducted from the role of process leader and involves being responsible for and following up on activities, processes, and initiatives across various operational areas and industries.

The main responsibility of the position is to drive and develop the work with reception and service in the municipality's authority exercise towards the business community. This is work that has been ongoing for several years and is now to be developed to reach a new level. Together with colleagues in the department and key individuals in other administrations, you will develop the strategic work aimed at improving the reception and service that companies experience. This may involve planning and implementing measures to increase knowledge levels or improve accessibility and processing times. The business guide, which is part of Malmö city's contact center, is an important partner and tool in the development work. The work focuses largely inward within the organization but also involves close contact with the business community and its actors, as they are the primary target group for the work.

Your position is based in Malmö, and your workplace is at the city office, the world and business department led by the city's business director. You report to the unit manager for investment promotion and establishment.

Qualifications

For this position, you are required to have:

• A university degree of at least three years in areas such as economics, political science, law, or another area deemed relevant by the employer for the assignment
• Several years of experience in exercising, leading, and developing authority exercise at the municipal or state level, towards businesses
• Experience working and navigating in a politically governed organization
• Good understanding of the conditions of the business community and its connection to Malmö's development
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

It is advantageous if you also have experience working more broadly and long-term with business development within the municipal sector.

The work will involve daily contact with people inside and outside Malmö city's organization. Therefore, it is important that you enjoy and excel at building and developing collaborations and relationships. This allows you to move freely between different contexts and decision-makers. You are communicative and have the ability to guide, inspire, and challenge people while adapting the dialogue to their needs and circumstances. You are an executor who sees opportunities, captures good ideas, and ensures they are realized. You operate at both a strategic and an operational level but with a long-term perspective, knowing that both large and small tasks contribute to the whole.

About the Workplace

The unit for investment promotion and establishments belongs to the world and business department. Our mission is to attract investments and business establishments and support existing companies in expanding. The unit contributes to strengthening the city's reception and service towards the business community by developing the business guide. We also work to attract congresses and business events that are important for Malmö's development.

The city office directs, challenges, and strengthens the development potential in the organization, in the city, and in the region. We are the municipal executive's administration and work with a holistic perspective close to the city's leadership. The city office consists of seven different departments and has a total of about 300 employees. Our departments work across a wide spectrum of areas, and the administration has many employees with high specialist competence.
