Our Operations

Thoracic surgery is part of Akademiska sjukhuset's specialty clinic for surgical treatment of thoracic diseases. Here, diseases of the heart, lungs, and major blood vessels are treated. The most common diagnoses are coronary artery disease, valve disorders, aneurysms, and lung tumors. We also perform ECMO treatments for indications of respiratory and heart failure.

Our operating department is a modern and high-tech unit with five operating rooms for conventional thoracic surgery and an intervention room for catheter-based intervention, as well as a room for robotic surgery (100 house). We have close collaboration throughout the entire field of operations and a shared responsibility for the entire care chain, allowing us to plan, execute, and evaluate the entire patient flow. We work with short decision-making paths, where long-term thinking and quality are guiding principles.

Your Mission

As an anesthetic nurse with us, you are an important part of our skilled team where we support and help each other in the operating room work.

We want you to focus on the patient and be responsible and motivated in your work. It is important that you can easily collaborate with your colleagues and other contacts we meet in our work. Contributing your specific expertise and the thoughts and ideas that come from it are important pieces for us in the ongoing development work. We expect you to want to contribute your knowledge and ideas for improvement.

At the thoracic clinic, anesthetic nurses work with thoracic anesthesia both in the operating rooms, the intervention room, and the robotic room. Thoracic anesthesia also provides the hospital's PCI and arrhythmia operations with anesthetic expertise, which means you will also work with highly specialized cardiology.

The position mainly involves daytime work, but evening work and on-call duties are also included. The schedule is based on individual planning, and working time reduction is included when scheduling with on-call duties. You are warmly welcome for a shadowing opportunity to see our operations. Since 2023, we have been working according to a new and much more attractive scheduling model where the requirement for 11 hours of rest is included.

Your Qualifications

You are a licensed nurse with a specialization in anesthetic care. We welcome both experienced candidates and those new to the role of anesthetic nurse.

Meritorious

• Master's degree in anesthetic care
• Supervisor training at university level
