Our Operations

The Department of Addiction and Neuropsychiatry is one of four departments within the area of Psychiatry. Our department is the entity within the Uppsala region that provides specialized addiction care and Neuropsychiatry. The department consists of two inpatient wards and four outpatient clinics.

In the department, specialist doctors, nurses, caregivers, social workers, psychologists, pharmacists, and occupational therapists work in multidisciplinary teams to ensure that all patients receive good and safe care. As we are part of a university hospital, research and teaching are an integral part of our operations, as is our evidence-based approach. We therefore place great importance on care, care development, the care process, and research, which is why we have our own research and development group linked to our department.

Within the Department of Addiction and Neuropsychiatry, we continuously work to improve and maintain a good care and work environment; therefore, we offer regular supervision and continuing education. It is important to us that all employees feel safe and comfortable with the work being performed. As a new employee, you will receive a long introduction and also have your own mentor. The staff in the Department of Addiction and Neuropsychiatry are open, positive, secure, and very competent, making it easy to join the organization as a newcomer.

Your Mission

We are looking for someone who has an interest and knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with neuropsychiatric diagnoses and related conditions.

As a specialist doctor, you will have a central role in the team. In collaboration with the patient and colleagues within and outside your profession, you will assess and plan the individual patient's needs for care and treatment. The work therefore requires that you have good collaboration skills and enjoy working in a team, as well as the ability to work independently.

The tasks are varied and exciting, with opportunities for deepening. For us, it is important that you have a genuine interest in working with people with neuropsychiatric diagnoses and comorbidity and that you want to be part of developing our operations.

On-call and standby duties are included, with the possibility of backup on-call introduction through dual service with another specialist doctor colleague.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a specialist in psychiatry with or without experience in neuropsychiatry, with a strong interest in the patient group regarding both assessment and treatment.

You have a high professional drive, and you are engaged and solution-oriented from a person-centered approach. You take pride in your profession and are attracted to professional challenges, where you develop through gradually increased responsibility. We value that you have strong professional integrity and see it as natural to keep yourself scientifically updated in your field. In the appointment, great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
