Support Staff for Disability Care in Umeå Municipality

The Disability Care in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.

Within special housing, there are group and service apartments according to LSS for individuals with intellectual and/or mental disabilities.

Godemansvägen 40 is a group home according to LSS focusing on individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Here, six users live in their own apartments, with access to common areas such as kitchen and living room for social interaction and community.

We are now looking for a new colleague to join our team!

Your Responsibilities

As support staff, you will assist users in their daily lives with approved services such as meals, cleaning, laundry, personal care, transfers, as well as planning and participating in activities. Your working method is characterized by flexibility, continuity, and security. You provide individual, social, and practical support to enable and utilize the users' own abilities, thus creating conditions for independence. You work to make the individual involved in their daily life and to have a meaningful leisure time and/or occupation. The work also includes documentation, record-keeping, working with implementation plans, and medication management.

Heavy lifting as well as situations involving threats and violence may occur in the workplace. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, on-call combinations (sleeping nights), and weekends. Coordination with other operations may occur.

About You

As a person, you have a good ability to collaborate and a professional approach towards users, relatives, and other stakeholders around our users. You are engaged and have a desire to share our values and work towards set goals and continuous improvements. We place great importance on personal suitability.

In order to communicate with users, relatives, and colleagues, write and access care documentation, and obtain medication delegation, you need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Experience working in disability care
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in spoken and written form, to access care documentation and obtain medication delegation

Desirable

• Trained nursing assistant, support educator, or other education that the employer deems equivalent
• Experience in low-affect responses, TAKK, lifting, or cognitive impairment
• Swim competent, as we have some active users who enjoy swimming
• Driver's license B
