About Us

The Operations Department at Blekingesjukhuset (BLS) in Karlshamn consists of five operating rooms where we perform elective surgeries during the day; Monday to Friday.

We serve surgical clinics at BLS primarily in orthopedics, as well as surgery, gynecology, urology, plastic surgery, and dentistry. Approximately 3000 surgeries are performed annually at BLS Karlshamn.

The department consists of about 60 employees, with the operating room team comprising operating room nurses, nursing assistants, operating physicians, and anesthetic staff. Teamwork with a focus on good communication, flexibility, and workflows characterizes our working method where everyone helps to achieve the goals of the organization.

The Job

The nursing assistant in the operating department is part of the team working around the patient. The work includes assisting the operating room nurse and managing medical technical equipment. This equipment can include x-ray machines, laser machines, and various types of pumps. There is also an opportunity for the nursing assistant to assist the anesthetic staff during patient sedation and awakening. In addition, the position includes regular tasks in the operating department that belong to the nursing assistant profession.

About You

We are looking for a nursing assistant who is confident, flexible, and meticulous. Experience in surgical nursing is advantageous but not a requirement. You are someone who wants to develop and learn new things, works well in a team, and contributes to a good working environment. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. If you lack experience in the surgical environment and are interested, you are welcome to shadow our department.
