We are currently looking for an Interim Unit Manager for Urban Development at the City of Gothenburg through StudentConsulting. You will belong to the Sports and Recreation Administration in the City of Gothenburg, whose vision is to make Gothenburg healthier. They are there for the citizens of Gothenburg, and the purpose of their operations is to provide conditions for a rich and active leisure time. They offer opportunities for various activities through their many sports and wellness facilities. They are also responsible for grants and other support to associations. The Property and Urban Development Department is tasked with leading the administration's work from early urban development to completed buildings. The assignment also includes the maintenance of our buildings as well as the rental of premises and land. The unit works strategically and long-term to develop Gothenburg as Sweden's leading sports city. The City of Gothenburg currently manages over 150 sports facilities, including sports halls, ice rinks, swimming pools, wellness facilities, playing fields, and sports areas. As the city grows, the unit further develops its sports areas and actively participates in various stages and processes of urban development in collaboration with other actors.

As the unit manager for the Urban Development unit, you will be responsible for employees in roles such as development leaders and project managers in early stages. The team works with urban development issues and projects in early stages, with a holistic perspective on the administration's long-term facility supply, planning processes, and development of sports areas. The unit also has an important function in monitoring urban development.

As a unit manager, you report directly to the department head for Property and Urban Development. Please note that the responsibility for the work environment is not delegated to this role, but it is important that you have knowledge and experience in the area.

Your tasks will include:

• Leading, planning, and developing the unit's operations
• Managing financial and personnel issues
• Creating the right conditions for employees by promoting knowledge acquisition and network building
• Supporting the department head by preparing decision-making materials for the administration's strategic positions.

This is a consulting assignment, which means you will be employed by us at StudentConsulting and work as a consultant at the City of Gothenburg. The position is full-time and is planned to start on 2026-01-02 and last until 2026-05-30, with the possibility of extension.

To succeed in this role, we see that you have:

• A university or college degree in urban development, urban planning, etc., or another education deemed equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience as a manager with budget and personnel responsibility.
• Experience in leading change work and cultural or value-based work.
• Experience in successfully exercising a communicative and trust-based leadership style.
• Good Swedish skills in speech and writing.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience working in the City of Gothenburg
• Experience working with urban development issues and change management
• Experience working in a politically governed organization
