Unit Manager for Property and Urban Development

The Property and Urban Development Department is tasked with leading the management's work from early urban development to completed buildings. The assignment also includes the maintenance of our buildings and the rental of premises and land. We work strategically and long-term to develop Gothenburg as Sweden's leading sports city. Gothenburg City currently manages over 150 sports facilities, including sports halls, ice rinks, swimming pools, wellness facilities, playing fields, and sports areas. As the city grows, we further develop our sports areas and actively participate in various stages and processes of urban development in collaboration with other stakeholders.

About the Assignment

As the unit manager for the Property unit, you will be responsible for employees who are in charge of planning and executing investment and reinvestment projects of various content and complexity. The team works to manage, develop, and lease the management's land and buildings. The unit is also responsible for the long-term maintenance of the management's facilities.

You report directly to the department head for Property and Urban Development. Note that the responsibility for the work environment is not delegated to this role, but knowledge in the area is important.

Your role includes, among other things:

• Leading, planning, and developing the unit's operations
• Managing economic and personnel issues
• Being the project owner for the unit's investment and reinvestment projects
• Quality assuring the project managers' planning and execution of projects
• Ensuring that the unit has assignments and resource coverage in both the short and long term

This is a consulting assignment, which means that you will be employed by us at StudentConsulting and work as a consultant for Gothenburg City, Property and Urban Development. The assignment is full-time and is expected to run from 2026-01-02 to 2026-05-30, with the possibility of extension after the period ends.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a university or college degree in engineering, economics, construction, or another relevant field
• Has at least 3 years of experience as a manager with budget and personnel responsibility
• Has experience with investment projects, project management/project ownership, and follow-up with suppliers
• Has experience in change management and working with cultural/value issues
• Has documented ability to exercise a communicative, trust-based leadership
• Has excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing

Meritorious:

• Experience in project management and project control within the construction and real estate industry, as well as change management
• Experience working in a politically governed organization
