Stockholm Syncentral is looking for an Occupational Therapist/Visual Educator

About the position:

At Stockholm Syncentral, approximately 60 people work with rehabilitation and habilitation for individuals with visual impairments or blindness.

We cover the entire Stockholm area. Stockholm Syncentral is operated by Habilitation and Health.

We are organized into a children and youth unit and an adult unit, and we are located in modern premises centrally at Fridhemsplan. Those of us who work here include visual educators, optometrists, social workers, psychologists, physiotherapists, IT educators, braille teachers, medical secretaries, and more.

The adult unit is looking for an occupational therapist with an interest in visual rehabilitation.

As an occupational therapist at the syncentral, you will work with assessing the needs of individuals with visual impairments and blindness. Together with the patient, you will develop a rehabilitation plan and carry out the prescription and training of techniques, strategies, and aids.

The interventions are offered individually and/or in groups. Visits primarily take place in the syncentral's premises but also in the patient's local/home environment.

Documentation is done in the Take Care journal system.

The work includes collaboration with colleagues at the Syncentral, with relatives, externally with ophthalmologists, assistive technology centers, and other important actors around the patient.

About you:

Qualifications:

You are a trained occupational therapist, visual educator, ophthalmic nurse, optometrist, or have another qualification that the employer deems equivalent.
You have a genuine interest in visual rehabilitation.
You are familiar with the prescription process for aids and are used to documenting in journals.

Personal qualities:

You enjoy independent work and can easily adapt to new environments.
You have good communication skills and a pedagogical approach and enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams.
You have a curious mindset and can easily absorb and apply new knowledge in practice.

We would like you to have previous experience in occupational therapy, visual rehabilitation, optometry, or ophthalmology, but this is not a requirement. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

• good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) is required, in addition to Swedish professional licensure. The same requirements apply to non-licensed personnel with patient contact.
