Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions

We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Culture is an important part of Stockholm's nervous system and touches millions of people every year. At the Culture Administration, we work together to strengthen the cultural life in Stockholm.

We have an open work climate where employees are very much involved in the development. Join us in contributing to Stockholm's growth through culture!

The Culture School operates throughout the city of Stockholm; see the address and placement in the ad text.

Welcome to us

In our world, culture is important.

We need spaces for culture. Places that allow for play, creativity, and dreams. Spaces where one can discover, develop, and express oneself. Spaces for imagination! In the Culture School, children and young people between 6 and 22 years old have that space. Here, they have the opportunity for their own creation in their free time in one of the many subjects offered by the Culture School, including music, singing, theater, musical, dance, circus, art, and media. Through various events, large and small, students can perform in front of an audience. Teaching is provided in our own facilities, with professional equipment, as well as in schools throughout Stockholm.

We offer you

We offer you a varied and exciting assignment where you are involved in the work of providing meaningful leisure for Stockholm's children and young people. You will work with engaged colleagues and have the opportunity to express your creativity, always aiming to find new ways to reach out to children.

Your role

Teaching in visual arts, design, art, and media in groups. In your role as a visual arts educator, you will be responsible for your student groups and work to establish good contacts with the students and their families. In consultation with the manager, you will be responsible for scheduling and following up on schedules as well as some administration. Together with the manager, colleagues, and students, you will plan and actively participate in activities based on the Culture School's goals and commitments, such as outreach activities, collaboration with schools, and open activities. Furthermore, it is part of your role to actively participate in meetings and training.

The position includes teaching groups of varying ages, as well as weekend work. Your teaching days are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

To our dedicated team, we are looking for someone who is professional, creative, and flexible. You have the ability to collaborate, create good relationships, and possess a good pedagogical insight. Personal suitability is highly valued.

We are looking for you who have:

  • You should have knowledge of and preferably experience in group teaching. By group teaching, we mean explicit group methodology that builds on both the individual student's and the group's development.
  • Experience working and teaching in ceramics and clay. Ceramics courses are an important part of our offerings.

Experience in teaching or working with the following is an advantage:

  • Film, animation, comic drawing, or game creation

The Culture Administration

The Culture Administration works to ensure that the cultural offerings in Stockholm consist of a diversity of different expressions, offerings, and opportunities while also containing both breadth and depth. The Culture Administration is responsible for the majority of the municipally run cultural activities and provides support to the independent cultural life.

The Culture Administration has about 1000 employees and includes the Culture School, Stockholm City Library, Liljevalchs Art Gallery, Stockholm Art, and the City Museum. The Events Department organizes large public events such as the Stockholm Culture Festival and the youth festival We Are Sthlm. The Culture Administration's activities have about 11 million visits each year.

A challenge for the Culture Administration is to reach more people, including groups that we do not reach today. Everyone should feel welcome in our activities, which places high demands on employees' competence and commitment. We actively work with sustainability and strive for equality and diversity. We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thereby counteracting discrimination.
