About the job

We are now looking for a lawyer with a focus on transparency and confidentiality and public documents.

The Legal Unit is responsible for the authority's legal matters and contributes to ensuring good legal quality in development cooperation and in Sida's internal administration. This also includes legal support for the development cooperation carried out at Sweden's foreign missions (embassies, etc.) as well as Sida's guarantee operations. The unit is responsible for Sida's contract templates for our partners, including multilateral organizations, reviews contract drafts prior to decisions, and has a coordination responsibility for the authority's internal regulations. The lawyers also conduct internal training.

Currently, there are 19 employees in the Legal Unit, one of whom is the authority's data protection officer. The head of the unit is also Sida's chief legal officer. All employees within the unit are located in Sundbyberg.

The main area of work for the lawyer is legal advice on matters primarily concerning contracts, business law, and administrative law, including issues of transparency and confidentiality and public procurement. The current position is intended to be responsible for managing transparency and confidentiality issues and providing legal support regarding public documents and disclosure matters, including appeals in court.

Responsibilities

  • Handle administrative law issues, primarily requests for disclosure of public documents and confidentiality assessments.
  • Prepare legal investigations and communicate their results within the authority.
  • Participate in methodological and development work within the own area of work and in the authority's overall operations.
  • Train employees within the area of work, both at Sida and at Sweden's foreign missions (embassies).

The work is independent and requires self-motivation and initiative, integrity, as well as the ability to work in a team and take joint responsibility with others in the authority.

Qualification requirements

Education

  • Master of Laws (270 credits) or equivalent.

Language

  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Work experience and knowledge

  • At least 3 years of experience working with Swedish law regarding transparency and confidentiality.
  • At least 5 years of experience in qualified legal work from e.g. court, another government authority, law firm, or equivalent.

For this role, it is advantageous if you have

  • Knowledge and extensive experience working with transparency and confidentiality, the Archives Act, and these types of issues also in a digital context.
  • Knowledge and experience working with administrative law.
  • Knowledge and experience working with international development assistance.
  • Experience in training employees within the own area of work.

Good to know

The position is a permanent employment with immediate start. A probationary period applies.

Sida offers the possibility of remote work to some extent if it works for the operations.
