Unit for Consular and Civil Law Affairs, Ministry for Foreign Affairs
Are you interested in helping people in vulnerable situations? At the UD Emergency Service, part of the Unit for Consular and Civil Law Affairs, interesting tasks await.
Your workday. Sweden's tomorrow.
We are looking for someone who wants to be part of the embassies' and the Ministry's work to handle consular matters around the clock. In your work, you will have direct contact with Swedes abroad seeking the Ministry's advice and support, and as the first point of contact, you will handle all matters that reach the embassies outside their office hours, concerning those in distress, detained individuals, deaths, child abductions, passports, etc. You will closely collaborate with the Ministry's communications unit and also handle certain press inquiries at night. You are responsible for the Ministry's alarm and preparedness function, and in a crisis situation involving Swedes abroad, you will be part of the Ministry's crisis organization.
The Unit for Consular and Civil Law Affairs handles individual consular matters, the Ministry's crisis preparedness and crisis management, and civil law issues. The unit consists of just over 50 employees and is divided into four groups. The UD Emergency Service works closely with all groups in the unit.
Your background
You have relevant academic education and work experience. We prefer that you have experience working with people in difficult situations. Consular work as well as crisis preparedness and crisis management are advantageous. If you have experience working shifts and/or night work and know that you can handle this, it is a plus, as is experience in media management.
Your qualities
You have a strong sense of service and a proven ability to communicate with people in vulnerable situations, even under time pressure. You can work on multiple issues simultaneously and easily switch between different technical systems. You have good judgment, high integrity, and possess well-developed empathetic and social skills. You express yourself well, both verbally and in writing, in both Swedish and English.
Other
Start date by agreement. In this recruitment round, we offer one or more fixed-term positions according to the specialist agreement. The position involves so-called reduced full-time, corresponding to about 90% scheduled working time with combined day and night shifts, weekdays as well as weekends. Scheduled standby with a response time of one hour is included.
The position is classified in a security class, and a security clearance with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. You must be a Swedish citizen, but having a foreign background is welcome.
