Make a Difference. Every Day.

The Radiation Therapy and Isotope Therapy Section in Lund is now seeking a specialist physician in Oncology/Radiology (possible focus on MR Linac). Here, we treat patients from the entire Southern Healthcare Region and are one of Sweden's larger radiotherapy centers. The unit provides external beam radiation therapy, brachytherapy, and isotope therapy. We participate in the national collaboration on proton therapy and plan selected patients for proton therapy in Uppsala.

We have 17 specialist physicians in the radiation therapy unit, of which about half are active researchers part-time. Several of the doctors are involved in national and international collaborations regarding radiation therapy. Additionally, we run a national course in radiotherapy for ST physicians in oncology, which is highly appreciated. We have procured an MR-Linac that is planned to be in place by September 2026, where both research and clinical operations will be conducted. Some of our doctors will work with MR Linac, and we therefore need to strengthen the group. This is an opportunity for a new colleague to work with MR-Linac or to enable another colleague to be freed up for this purpose.

The section is part of the area of operations (VO) hematology, oncology, and radiation physics and is a highly specialized operation with approximately 900 employees offering treatment for cancer diseases to patients throughout the Southern Healthcare Region. We provide oncological inpatient and outpatient care in Lund, Malmö, Helsingborg, Kristianstad, and Ystad.

We are a research-intensive operation aimed at improving care, and our research is conducted in close collaboration with Lund University. Furthermore, we work on the education of future nursing assistants, nurses, medical secretaries, physicians, and researchers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We welcome a specialist physician in oncology or radiology (with an interest in oncology) to the Radiation Therapy and Isotope Therapy Section at VO hematology, oncology, and radiation physics. The position focuses on external radiation therapy.

You will serve in the radiation therapy unit in Lund, where there is an opportunity to specialize within one or more of our diagnostic groups, in brachytherapy, or in work with the MR Linac project. In addition to clinical duties, both organizational development work and quality work as well as supervision of students and ST physicians are included. The position fundamentally involves 100% clinical service and can be combined with your own research. For those interested in research and development work regarding MR-Linac and with suitable qualifications, there is an opportunity to receive project funding for part-time research in this field for some years.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who are applying are a licensed physician with the authority to operate within Swedish healthcare. Language proficiency in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's level scale is a requirement.

Furthermore, you have specialist competence in oncology or radiology. In the latter case, the arrangement of the position can be discussed, but with the focus that the current candidate should eventually obtain double specialty. You should have completed or planned a course in clinical supervision. Experience in radiation therapy is meritorious, as is experience in the development of oncological care. We would like you to be active in research.

It is of great importance that you are easy to collaborate with. Furthermore, you have good communication skills and find it easy to plan work, take responsibility, and make decisions. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

At a university hospital unit, it is required that physicians have pedagogical experience and training. This can be acquired through supervision of, for example, nursing and medical students as well as physicians in training and as co- or main supervisors of doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience in supervision, and teaching at various levels.

When you submit your application, you must fill out the questionnaire, which must be completely and correctly filled out. You also need to attach your documents digitally; see under 'Other' which documents you need to send. For us to assess your application, it must be complete.

In this recruitment, we apply continuous selection. Warm welcome to submit your application today!

OTHER

In addition to the electronic application, applicants should attach a medical license and specialist competence certificate. For the position of assistant chief physician and chief physician, a service certificate should also be attached. For chief physician positions, a diploma regarding disputation, certificate of docent status, and a publication list (divided into original publications, review articles, and other publications) may also be required. NOTE! These digital documents are forwarded for expert assessment, so they must accompany your application. Non-Nordic dissertations should be attached to the application and assessed by the Swedish Council for Higher Education. For any questions, email: [email protected]
