Within the pediatric medicine area at Skåne University Hospital (Sus), we provide care for children and adolescents in both Lund and Malmö, with outpatient clinics and wards as well as emergency departments at both locations. We work according to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Nordic Association for Sick Children's Needs (NOBAB) standards.
At the pediatric emergency department in Lund, we meet children who come in acutely with illnesses or as a result of accidents. We receive children within specialized medicine up to 18 years old and children with surgical conditions up to 15 years old. During on-call hours, we also receive children with issues from the ear, nose, and throat region. We have a unit manager nurse who works during the day and is available as experienced support for new employees as well as for those who already work with us. We also have two pediatric nurse specialists and one pediatric nurse who work 50 percent in care and 50 percent in mentorship and introduction, as well as development of our unit.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We welcome a driven and committed nurse/pediatric nurse who wants to help develop emergency care for children with us.
In your role as a nurse/pediatric nurse at the pediatric emergency department, your responsibilities will include the care and treatment of acutely ill children. With us, you will encounter a varied and stimulating work environment in a good working atmosphere that demands flexibility and collaboration.
We have an eight-week introduction period, but your introduction is individual and is of course adapted to your previous experiences. Progression occurs gradually to increased responsibility within triage, ambulance reception, the emergency room, treatments, and care around the sick child and their relatives. The introduction also includes training in patient-related analyses, basic pediatrics, emergency exercises, medical technology, and our triage tool RETTS. As a newly hired nurse or pediatric nurse, you will always have the support of an experienced colleague. You will also receive a mentor who has extensive experience working in pediatric and emergency care during your introduction period and also thereafter, depending on your wishes and needs.
We offer a schedule model with quota agreements, which means that you work 38.25 hours a week and are employed on a combined day and night shift, where you work two weekends in five weeks.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse and/or a nurse with specialist training in pediatric and adolescent care or emergency care with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's level scale is a requirement. We would like you to have experience working in pediatric care, but the most important thing is that you have an interest in pediatric care.
Your positive attitude contributes to a good working climate, and as a person, you are secure in your professional role and have an easy time adapting to the changing circumstances that working in an emergency department entails. You feel secure in your priorities and always have the patient in focus even when the pace is sometimes high. Since we work closely in teams, good collaboration skills, a high sense of service, and a genuine interest in children and their families are important. We value that you as a person are engaged and flexible, as well as very meticulous and resilient in your work.
