About the unit

At the Management Unit (ManE) at the Military Academy Karlberg, we develop and implement education in management and administration. We conduct both classroom-based and online learning. Our target groups are primarily leaders and specialists within the Swedish Armed Forces. We offer you a unique workplace in a castle environment along with excellent opportunities for training during work hours. You will join a unit consisting of creative and experienced colleagues who truly enjoy working together.

The Management Unit consists of three departments that plan and conduct courses in various subject areas. The role of pedagogical developer is placed in the unit support department and collaborates across the entire unit.

Main responsibilities

As a pedagogical developer with us, you will drive the development of online and classroom-based training as well as blended formats. Examples of tasks include:

  • Support the unit in increasing the proportion of blended learning in our training
  • Assist course leaders in developing course plans and educational content in accordance with the Armed Forces' educational process
  • Lead and implement competence development initiatives in pedagogy, blended learning, and digital productions
  • Monitor the environment and drive development projects within pedagogy and digital learning
  • Support the unit in developing guidelines, routine descriptions, and educational materials
  • Represent ManE in relevant networks and working groups

The Swedish Armed Forces is growing, and the tasks may evolve over time.

Qualifications

  • Relevant academic degree in pedagogy, ICT, or another subject deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Several years of experience in developing training based on blended learning
  • Several years of experience in initiating, leading, and implementing development projects in education
  • Excellent ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English

We are looking for someone with a strong drive for educational development who naturally takes initiative and moves work forward in a proactive and structured manner. Since you will support the unit with pedagogical development, it is important that you are unpretentious and collaborate effectively with others. You will have many points of contact at all levels within the Armed Forces and with other stakeholders, which means you are communicative, pedagogical, constructive, and a positive problem solver. You are motivated by inspiring and creating engagement and are used to taking significant responsibility and independently driving development projects from idea and need to results and impact in the organization.

Thanks to your strategic thinking and adaptability, you can identify and manage changes in a dynamic and rapidly changing educational environment and a growing Armed Forces. You are creative, analytical, and innovative, which helps you develop solutions that meet the changing needs in the field of education.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Desirable qualifications

  • Experience in developing course plans and educational content based on pedagogical theories and taxonomies
  • Experience in developing digital training, either as a producer or client
  • Experience using digital tools that support learning, such as AI, learning platforms (LMS), and communication tools
  • Experience working within the Armed Forces' educational process
  • Solid knowledge and experience in adult learning

Other

Employment type: Permanent civilian employment, full-time. Six months probationary period for those not employed within the Armed Forces.

At the Military Academy Karlberg, the basic three-year officer training is conducted together with the Swedish Defence University. The school also has the Management Unit, Veterans Center, the Armed Forces' unit for Sports and Physical Performance, Local Planning Unit Mitt, and the School Unit.
