In Region Kronoberg, we are 6,500 people working for the best of the Kronoberg residents – every day! We are responsible for healthcare, public transport, regional development, and culture in the region. Our goal is for our employees to thrive, grow in their professional roles, and influence their workday.
Are you a nurse, enjoy challenges, and want a daily routine where no day is the same? Over the past year, we have significantly increased the number of employees in the emergency department – do you want to be part of our wonderful team?
The emergency department is the center of events! Here, nurses work in teams alongside nursing assistants to provide the best care to acutely ill and injured patients. There is always a lead nurse for support and close collaboration with doctors. Every team member is crucial for patient safety in life-critical moments. We perform a variety of interventions for our patients, which means you, as an employee, learn something new every day. Sometimes it can be very busy, but if you enjoy working hard and want to be there for someone when they need it most, then this is the job for you!
We offer a wide range of employee benefits for those who choose to work within Region Kronoberg. Here are some of the benefits we offer:
- Increased OB compensation: Those who work irregular hours receive increased OB compensation. The OB compensation is multiplied by 1.5.
- Increased night index: The increased night index is a reduction in working hours for all employees who alternate between day and night work. One hour of night work counts as 1.4 worked hours, meaning a regular night shift gives about 14 hours. This provides flexibility in your schedule and more time for recovery.
- Exchange vacation days: If you are over 40 years old, you are allocated 31 vacation days. You have the option to exchange vacation days exceeding 25 for financial compensation.
- Parental leave supplement: We value your time with family and offer a parental leave supplement during your parental leave.
- Development opportunities: We offer good development and career opportunities for all employees. We provide, among other things, the opportunity for paid further education for those who want to become specialist nurses.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Patients arriving at the emergency department are adults of all ages, with various backgrounds and medical conditions. In surgery and orthopedics, we also receive children, which adds further variation to the work. In the emergency department, your role is central in meeting patients. Here, prioritizations may need to be made immediately, and we genuinely make a difference for people when every second counts. The variation of patients and pace means we often need to prioritize and adapt to new conditions.
Here, checks, assessments, and actions necessary during the patient's care period are performed. We also collaborate with other departments and wards in the hospital.
We take pride in our employees and strive for continuous professional development. With us, you can receive:
- AMLS, Advanced Medical Life Support, to identify, address, and manage acutely ill patients.
- ATSS, Acute Trauma Care for Nurses, focusing on management during the first hour after trauma.
- A-HLR, advanced training for S-HLR.
- X-ray training that includes extended knowledge regarding examinations of extremities to independently write X-ray referrals in case of suspected fractures.
As a new employee with us in the emergency department, you will receive a thorough individualized introduction and a mentor. If you are newly employed in Region Kronoberg, you will also receive a region-wide introduction. For further variation and professional development, there is the opportunity for joint service on the emergency care unit.
