The Financial Markets Department is responsible for providing the basis for the government's policy in the financial sector. The Securities Market Unit is one of four units in the department and is responsible for analysis, policy, and legislation in the securities market – for example, trading in financial instruments, securities funds, financial infrastructure, and measures against market abuse. The work is characterized by the rapid development of the market, digitalization, and ongoing work within the EU to create a capital markets union.
At the Securities Market Unit, economists and lawyers work together on negotiation, analysis, and legislative projects. Your tasks will focus on analysis and policy development, as well as negotiation work within the EU. The work is sometimes fast-paced and involves contacts with the political leadership of the Ministry of Finance, other ministries, the parliament, authorities, and various industry representatives. Travel within Europe may occur in the position.
Current issues in the unit include efforts to strengthen competitiveness within the EU and proposals from the EU Commission for increased integration and common supervision in the securities market area. Ongoing policy issues include financial stability risks outside the banking sector, the functioning of the corporate bond market, sustainability, and digitalization.
Your background
You have an academic degree in economics, financial economics, or a related field. A PhD is an advantage.
You have at least five years of work experience in the area of the Financial Markets Department and experience in qualified analytical work, including data management. Experience in the securities market area, as well as experience in supervision, monitoring, international negotiations, or normative work relevant to the unit's mission, is an advantage.
Very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English is a prerequisite for the role.

The position is a permanent full-time employment located in Stockholm, with access as soon as possible. The employment begins with a six-month probationary period. A security clearance will be conducted before a decision on employment is made.
