Postdoctoral Researcher in Physiotherapy

At the Department of Neuroscience and Physiology at Sahlgrenska Academy, extensive research and teaching are conducted across large areas of knowledge from molecule to human. The activities consist of five sections: pharmacology, physiology, health and rehabilitation, clinical neuroscience, and psychiatry and neurochemistry.
The Department of Neuroscience and Physiology is now seeking a postdoctoral researcher to be placed in the Section for Health and Rehabilitation.
The Physiotherapy Unit has a creative research environment with research in several physiotherapeutic areas and broad collaboration with research groups nationally and internationally. In the unit and in the research groups, we have PhD students, junior and senior researchers with broad expertise that includes knowledge of physiotherapy and medicine. We have a collective ability to conduct various types of research, both from quantitative and qualitative approaches, registry research, and instrument development. The postdoctoral researcher will work in one of the section's research groups.

Subject Description
Physiotherapy encompasses knowledge about and studies of humans in motion and how movement, awareness of the body and movement, habits, and lifestyles affect human health.
To broaden the research field in the subject of physiotherapy within Sahlgrenska Academy, the focus within the subject of physiotherapy is not predetermined for this postdoctoral project. Instead, the project will be planned and implemented in collaboration with the research group in the subject of physiotherapy that the project is linked to.
Responsibilities
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will contribute to projects with new directions within the subject of physiotherapy at the section. In this role, you will work closely with other researchers who are researching this subject at Gothenburg University.
You will play a key role in the planning and implementation of studies in the project. The tasks include the entire research process, from planning and design of studies to data generation and reporting of results in the form of scientific and popular science publications and presentations for both the scientific community and society at large.
You are also expected to report results back to the individuals involved in the studies, to ensure that the research results have practical application and benefit. Participating in the planning and development of the research group's future activities is also an important part of the position, aiming to strengthen your scientific credentials and the utilization of research results.
The position also includes applying for research grants and participating in teaching. The purpose of the position is to develop your experience as a researcher and create good conditions for future qualifications.
Eligibility
Eligibility for employment as a teacher is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4 and Gothenburg University's employment regulations.
Eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher for this announcement is someone who holds a PhD in physiotherapy or another relevant field for the position. It is advantageous to have demonstrated the ability to conduct studies in a field that is not yet represented in the current research at the section.
Assessment Criteria
We are looking for someone with documented experience in research within physiotherapy. You should have demonstrated pedagogical skills in teaching at the undergraduate and/or advanced level and have completed higher education pedagogical training, or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. You should also have very good knowledge of Swedish (at least level C1) since research work such as method development, intervention, data generation, and analysis will be conducted in Swedish.
The position is an initial step in the academic career. The assessment is primarily based on scientific merits and potential as a researcher, with particular emphasis on scientific ability within the subject area.
Clinical experience within healthcare and/or care is also advantageous, as well as previous success in obtaining research funding.
You are a structured person with good initiative who enjoys working independently but also appreciates collaboration and contributing to social contexts.

Employment
The position is a fixed-term appointment for 2 years, 100% full-time, with placement at the Department of Neuroscience and Physiology. Start date: as soon as possible or by agreement.
