Description

In the area of Medicine, there is a lung medicine clinic in Skövde that includes a lung oncology clinic.

At the unit, patients are followed from the start of investigation through the entire disease process. Starting in 2026, plans are underway for patients to receive their oncological treatment at the oncology clinic, area 2, as part of the establishment of an oncological center at SkaS.

In area 2, Surgery, Urology, Oncology, and Palliative Care, the oncology clinic is located in Skövde and Lidköping. The operations are divided into oncological day care, chemotherapy treatment, and medical consultations. At the unit, we primarily treat patients with breast, gastrointestinal, prostate cancer, brain tumors, and in the future, lung cancer as well. Treatment is provided for both curative and palliative purposes.

The position begins in the lung medicine clinic's oncology and will later move with the patients to the oncology clinic in area 2.

Responsibilities

We have a person-centered approach in our interactions with patients, and as a nurse, you will serve as the contact nurse during the treatment period. The clinic's activities involve participating in medical consultations where treatments are initiated and followed up. In the oncological day care, various treatments are administered, primarily chemotherapy. Telephone counseling is an important part of the work. You will work independently but also in close collaboration with colleagues and doctors. With us, you always have the opportunity to learn something new, as oncology is constantly evolving. A basic training in chemotherapy management is included in the introduction. We work Monday to Friday and are off on public holidays, but some weekend work on the ward is included in the position.

Qualifications

We are primarily looking for a licensed nurse who has worked as a contact nurse in oncology and has substantial experience in the field. Specialist training in oncology is an advantage. You are a trustworthy person and have an easy time building good relationships with both colleagues and patients. You understand the importance of good communication with patients and their relatives, you have a holistic view, and you are genuinely interested in oncological healthcare. You are solution-focused and want to contribute to the development of the organization. You also have the ability to prioritize and make independent decisions. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Other

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introductory program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes introductory days, mentoring and training days, as well as observation days. The purpose of the Clinical Foundation Year is to create good conditions for newly graduated nurses to strengthen their theoretical knowledge and practice skills while growing into their new profession.

In the event of recruitment of nurses with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.
