Responsibilities

We are looking for an engaged project manager to expand our team working with the Norrbotniabanan. The role involves being a close support in the overall project while taking full responsibility for the Piteå Travel Center.

As the project manager for the Piteå Travel Center, you will play a central role in a historic investment that connects Piteå with the rest of Norrland and strengthens the region's development. You will work closely with the project manager for the overall Norrbotniabanan project, where you will both support the overall work and independently drive the travel center project.

Your main task is to plan, lead, and coordinate the work on Piteå's new travel center – from early stages of planning and investigations to the completed facility. This includes both the building itself and the surrounding areas of the travel center and connections to the rest of the city. You are responsible for steering and following up the project against set goals, timelines, and budget while ensuring high quality, good resource efficiency, and long-term sustainability in all parts of the process. You ensure that the travel center not only functions as an efficient hub for travelers but also becomes a place that elevates Piteå, strengthens the city's identity, contributes to an attractive and welcoming urban environment, and serves as a vibrant meeting place for the city's residents and visitors.

In the overall Norrbotniabanan project, you will act as a partner and support to the project manager in the municipality. This involves strategic work, follow-up, and coordination of activities.

The role requires extensive collaboration and dialogue. You will work internally with various functions of the municipality and political representatives, and externally with citizens, developers, and stakeholders such as the Swedish Transport Administration, Region Norrbotten, and the County Administrative Board. Together, you will drive development forward and contribute to shaping the future of Piteå.

Qualifications

You have several years of experience in project management and an academic degree focused on community building or another equivalent education. Experience in similar tasks, preferably within politically governed organizations, is an advantage.

We are looking for someone with a strong drive and a natural ability to collaborate. You communicate clearly and build good relationships while being self-driven and enjoying taking responsibility and pushing projects forward.

You work solution-oriented, see opportunities even in complex issues, and contribute new perspectives to find ways forward.

Since the position involves balancing different interests, good analytical skills are a prerequisite.

You have a commitment to sustainable community development and want to contribute to Piteå's future development.

Experience in external collaboration with government agencies is an advantage.

You need to have good skills in expressing yourself verbally and in writing.
