Do you want to work with us?

The Social Office in Finspång is strengthening its staff group that works with authority exercise regarding children and youth and is therefore hiring a social worker with a particular focus on youth cases.

What can we offer you?

We are looking for someone who is experienced in working with authority exercise and handling cases concerning youth at risk related to norm-breaking behavior, crime, and substance abuse.

Our crime prevention work takes place at various levels in our municipality, and to reach children, youth, and families at an early stage, we have a Crime Prevention Coordinator who has overall responsibility for the work, as well as a School Social Team that works in schools to identify and address norm-breaking behaviors early on. As a youth caseworker, you will have a strong connection to these colleagues.

We are seeing an increase in complex youth cases that are linked to serious crime, substance abuse, and other norm-breaking behavior, which means that special interventions need to be offered. We work with interventions such as rePulse, qualified contact persons, network work, safety planning according to Signs of Safety, SSPF, and various interventions related to substance abuse issues and support in parenting skills. We offer youth and parents interventions without prior assistance decisions when conditions allow, all in accordance with the new Social Services Act.

As a youth caseworker with us, you will work with case handling based on SoL, LVU, and LuL. In addition to collaborating with parents and other important adults around the youth, you will cooperate with external actors such as schools, police, probation services, and prosecutors to ensure legally secure assessments and decisions about appropriate interventions for the target group.

In Finspång, we have established internal cooperation between caseworkers on the authority side and therapists in outpatient care. This means you will have close and daily contact with colleagues working in reception groups, follow-up groups, adult caseworkers, and therapists in outpatient care.

To thrive with us, you need to be interested in, and preferably familiar with, the Signs of Safety approach, as the entire IFO in Finspång actively works based on this approach.

The Signs of Safety approach is based on striving for close cooperation with families' own networks, and you need to understand the importance of allowing those we meet to find and try their own solutions, where we as social services do not take on the role of experts, while still maintaining focus and acting when there is a need for protective interventions. When you start with us, you will receive basic training in Signs of Safety if you do not already have such training.

We apply co-case management when needed but prefer that you have the courage to work independently on cases when possible. The foundation is always that you should feel secure in your work and receive support from colleagues and your manager in the aspects included in your daily work. To ensure this, we have weekly group meetings where the responsible manager participates. In addition to weekly group meetings, you will have individual time with the group manager for case support continuously. When you are new to the workplace, you will also receive a mentor who supports you a little extra until you settle into the work.

Since the role of youth caseworker is new in Finspång, you will have the opportunity to develop the operations, monitor the environment, and initiate new ways to collaborate and work with the target group in dialogue with your manager and colleagues.

Working hours are mainly scheduled during the day, but uncomfortable working hours may occur. There is some opportunity to work from home if needed when the operations allow and in dialogue with the group manager. Flex agreements apply when you work as an authority exerciser with us.

Who are you?

You have a degree in social work and experience in authority exercise at a social office, primarily related to youth with norm-breaking behavior. We place great emphasis on previous experience, personal suitability, and the ability to remain calm in demanding situations. We expect you to express yourself well in both speech and writing.

A driver's license for a manual transmission is a requirement.

Interviews will be conducted continuously during the application period. The deadline for applications is November 30, and employment will commence upon agreement. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible as the position may be filled before the application period ends. The position is filled subject to the necessary decisions being made.
