In the role of Laboratory Technician within Quality and Metallurgy in steel production, you will play a crucial role in ensuring both the quality and efficiency of the manufacturing process. The position involves performing a wide range of mechanical, chemical, and metallurgical tests on steel samples, as well as ensuring that all tests and analyses are conducted accurately, on time, and in accordance with industry standards.
Your responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that safety, environmental, and quality protocols are followed.
- Performing mechanical, chemical, and metallurgical tests (ISO, DIN, JIS, ASTM), including tensile tests, hardness tests, impact tests, chemical analyses, and SEM analyses.
- Preparing and processing samples using CNC machines and robotic systems.
- Calibrating and maintaining testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment.
- Recording and analyzing test data and reporting any deviations or deficiencies.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Knowledge of international testing standards (ISO, ASTM, JIS, DIN).
- Experience from mechanical or industrial laboratory environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of CNC machining, robotic systems, and metallurgical tools is an advantage.
- Experience working with acids and standards in the steel industry is considered a plus.
- Holds a B driver's license (EU).
- Good safety awareness and the ability to handle lifts up to 25 kg.
- Very good knowledge of English; basic knowledge of Swedish is an advantage.

About Stegra
Stegra aims to transform the global steel industry by producing green hydrogen, iron, and steel – with the goal of eliminating carbon dioxide emissions. Instead of coal, we use green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity, which means that our primary emissions will be water and heat.
