Radio Technician in the Swedish Armed Forces

About the Department
The Implementation Department in Luleå consists of three sections with different focuses. As a radio technician, you will be part of the telecommunications section. We primarily work with preventive and corrective maintenance.
Main Responsibilities
Main responsibilities as a radio technician include operational and maintenance actions on parts of the Armed Forces' radio installations. By operational and maintenance, we primarily mean preventive measures (supervision) and maintenance/repairs as well as commissioning of the Armed Forces' radio, towers, masts, and other communication technology equipment. The work requires careful ongoing registration, updating, and documentation in support systems. Work with security systems at air bases and work at heights is also included. Furthermore, it involves handling and responding to inquiries in the area, providing technical support to the organization and decision-makers. You will collaborate with various units and suppliers and participate in temporarily organized workgroups or projects (e.g., during new installations). Internal training for specific work areas is provided by the Armed Forces.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- High school education with passing grades
- Driver's license B
- Approved medical examination for eligibility to work at heights (conducted by defense health before employment)

DESIRABLE
- High school education in electrical/telecommunication orientation (IT/tele, radio communication) or equivalent knowledge acquired in other ways that the employer can assess as equivalent
- Current and relevant experience in service and maintenance of telecommunication systems
- Good knowledge of network technology and Linux-based systems
- Completed military basic training
- Familiarity with the Armed Forces' equipment/materials
- BE and/or C driver's license
- Snowmobile license, all-terrain vehicle
- Instrument measurement technology
- Experience in climbing at heights (20-60m)
Other
Employment type: permanent. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not employed by the agency.
Employment rate: full-time.
Work location: Luleå.
The position is civilian.
Within the Armed Forces, the position is referred to as Telecommunications Engineer.
Travel within the service may occur.
On-call service within the position may occur.
Start date as soon as possible or as agreed.
