At the Community Building Administration, more than 180 employees work with infrastructure and environmental protection in our municipality. We are responsible for planning and operating construction projects, road networks, parking lots, public places, parks, waste management, as well as treatment plants and waterworks. Our area of responsibility also includes traffic safety, accessibility, security, and a good environment for residents, as well as regulatory enforcement based on the Environmental Code and food legislation, where supervision and preventive work are in focus.

In the Traffic and Park unit, we work with regulatory enforcement in the form of local traffic regulations and processing incoming traffic matters. We also work with traffic planning in early stages and contribute to the community building process regarding traffic safety and accessibility issues, planning of public space, public transport, and the development of Alingsås as a cycling city.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of traffic engineer, you work every day to ensure that Alingsås has a safe and good traffic environment. You will largely work with incoming traffic matters and extensively conduct investigations, possessing very good knowledge of the Traffic Regulation and applicable legislation for municipal operations.

Working at the Community Building Administration means being flexible in your work and addressing many of the varying issues that a municipality encounters. You will be offered a varied job where no day is the same as another.

Together with your colleagues, you will investigate politicians' or citizens' questions and requests, develop guidelines and routines for the unit, work on investigative tasks, and present your work to the technical committee and municipal council.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is meticulous, positive, helpful, flexible, and unpretentious. A requirement for the position is a completed education/degree in a relevant field for community building/traffic engineering or other education and/or experience that the employer deems equivalent.

You are well acquainted with the Traffic Regulation and legislation regarding relevant regulatory enforcement. You have good experience working with traffic issues in the role of traffic investigator, traffic engineer, traffic regulator, or similar.

Good IT skills are a must, and a B driver's license is required, as well as very good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Experience from working within a politically governed organization and the public sector, as well as experience in regulatory enforcement such as in municipal/state service, is advantageous for the position. It is also advantageous if you have worked on writing plans, policies, guidelines, and investigations.
