The opportunity

We are looking for an R&D Principal Engineer to join the team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the development of advanced composite solutions for next-generation converter valves.

How you'll make an impact

• Provide technical leadership in the design, analysis, and qualification of composite and mechanical components for converter valves.
• Drive innovation in composite materials, including the development and optimization of high-performance fiber-reinforced composites for demanding electrical and mechanical environments.
• Lead simulation and prediction of manufacturing-induced shape distortions, residual stresses, and material behavior in composite structures, utilizing advanced finite element analysis (FEA) and process modeling tools.
• Oversee experimental validation and testing of composite components, including mechanical, thermal, and electrical performance assessments.
• Develop and implement cost-effective testing methodologies for composite materials, including fatigue/lifecycle testing.
• Lead and contribute to R&D projects from concept through implementation.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and scientists, fostering a culture of technical rigor and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., design, testing, manufacturing) to solve complex engineering challenges and deliver robust solutions.
• Support patent and invention disclosure processes, contributing to the company's intellectual property portfolio.

Your Background

• PhD in Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on composite materials or structural mechanics.
• Extensive experience in R&D roles within the composites or high-voltage equipment industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in simulation, modeling, and experimental validation of composite manufacturing processes.
• Experience with invention disclosures and patent processes.
• Active involvement in standardization committees and external academic collaborations.
• Proficiency in technical communication, both written and oral, for international and multidisciplinary audiences.
• Leadership experience in guiding teams and managing complex projects.
