JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with clients. Working in the transport unit means that your main task is to transport incarcerated individuals on behalf of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and other authorities. The job also includes supervision during, for example, trials and hospital visits. The varied assignments mean that working hours can differ from day to day. The work involves regular handling of various documents and issuing documentation.

Working as a correctional officer means you can make a difference for others and contribute to a better society. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of people, respect for the individual, and belief in human development.

You will begin your employment at the workplace where you will receive an introduction over three weeks. After a period of service, you will be offered a place in the mandatory basic training of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Work experience, including seasonal work, temporary employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment.
• Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills.
• Driver's license (B) and good driving experience.

It is advantageous if you have:

• Work experience in corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or health and care work.
• Knowledge in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
• Relevant language skills.

OTHER

We have high demands for our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. A security check will precede the employment decision. Some positions are classified, and a security assessment with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. For positions with a higher security classification, you must be a Swedish citizen but may have a foreign background.
